Enterprise Finance & Information Technology (EF&IT) brings together enterprise functions that drive Wells Fargo’s financial management, information technology, corporate development, corporate properties and corporate security, and corporate strategy. We do that by providing strategic counsel, subject matter expertise, innovative solutions, and effective tools to Wells Fargo businesses around the world.

The Team

The Line of Business Finance Group reports to the Business Finance Support Leader, and manages the finance functions directly supporting the Lines of Business, including Wholesale, Community Bank, Wealth and Investment Management, Consumer Lending, and Payments, Virtual Solutions and Innovation. The team is responsible for providing consultative support to LOB initiatives; product pricing and analytics; ownership and insights of financial projections and results; maintaining strong partnerships with COE’s; and building a culture within finance business support with deep functional and technical subject matter expertise that promotes cross functional partnerships and provides expert consultative support to business partners. The Group works in partnership with the Enterprise Finance Group to provide finance support across the enterprise.

The Wholesale Business Support Team reports to the Wholesale Business Finance Leader, and provides financial support to the complete set of Wholesale businesses including:  Commercial Banking, Middle Market Banking, Business Banking, Government and Institutional Banking, Financial Institutions, Wells Fargo Securities, Commercial Real Estate and Commercial Capital.  In addition, the Wholesale Business Support team provides financial support to the Wholesale Chief Operating Officer’s team and the International governance team.

The Role

This executive will lead a team of Finance Managers and Senior Managers providing financial support to Wells Fargo’s Non-U.S. jurisdictions in EMEA, APAC and Canada, Wholesale’s Chief Operating Office team and Wholesale’s Risk function. Additionally, the team provides financial support for the ProfitView & Pricing Tools, and partners with the Balance Sheet COE and Treasury on Balance Sheet Management issues

Outstanding leadership skills and the proven ability to foster a culture of strong consultation, sound controls, and continuous improvement will be determining factors in selection. This executive will be recognized for accomplishments related to hiring, retaining, and developing a diverse, world-class team.

The executive will:

  • Lead the International Regional CFO Teams for all financial governance & support responsibilities in EMEA, APAC and Canada, inclusive of legal entity financial governance. The role will include close partnership with the international regional leadership, cross-board governance, controllers and risk teams.
  • Managing and leading a team that will provide best-in-class direct business support for the Wholesale Chief Operating Office, inclusive of Wholesale Operations, the Lending Transformation Program, Wholesale Relationship Management Foundations, Business Strategy, and Wholesale Complaints Management.
  • Provide necessary finance support for the Wholesale first line-of-defense business Risk team.
  • In partnership with the Wholesale COO team, provide business-wide leadership in building out and supporting the Profit-View customer profitability initiative.
  • Partner with the Balance Sheet COE and Corporate Treasury in the support of the Pricer tool and to manage other balance sheet management issues as necessary.
  • Partner with the Cost Allocation COE and the Corporate Tax teams to ensure appropriate revenue and cost allocations are in place to support transfer pricing requirements.
  • Partner with the applicable Forecasting COEs to support the company’s nine-quarter forecasting process.
  • Ensure proper preparation of financial materials for operating reviews and reports; provide financial support for project, efficiency and acquisition/divestiture business cases; provide support as needed for investor presentations and earnings release materials, strategy decks and other ad-hoc financial analyses.
  • Provide financial advice and guidance for Wholesale’s strategic plan as well as other long-range line of business level plans.
  • Build relationships and partner closely with Wholesale senior leaders and other business leaders and partners across the enterprise in support of all deliverables.
  • Work with Auditors and Regulators as necessary.

Leadership, change management and demonstrated business experience will be determining factors in the selection process. Successful candidates will be articulate and possess a demonstrated leadership capability; they will have strong inter-personal effectiveness. A key differentiator will be the ability to understand and operate successfully in a complex, heavily matrixed environment. The role requires a sense of urgency, passion for results, and personal accountability for achievement.  Successful candidates will also have proven record of successfully leading teams through change in difficult environments.  Finally, successful candidates will have financial experience working with International teams, business operations and risk and balance sheet management issues.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of management experience
  • 12+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: finance, accounting, analytics or reporting

Desired Qualifications

  • A BS/BA degree or higher in one or a combination of the following: Finance, Accounting, Analytics, or Reporting
  • Demonstrated success and mastery managing in a matrixed environment

Other Desired Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience as a senior finance and/or accounting leader working in a large bank environment.
  • 3+ years managing a team of managers ideally including International teams.
  • Extensive experience supporting a large complex business.
  • Demonstrated integrity, negotiation and financial management acumen, and effective decision-making/critical thinking/problem solving skills.
  • Collaborative management style, execution focus, and results orientation. 
  • Strong knowledge of financial products as well as the connections between the balance sheet, non-interest income, the underlying business drivers and revenue composition.
  • Proven ability to attract, develop, and retain a highly engaged, high performing, and diverse team.
  • Exceptional track record of delivering results.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and lead change, develop cutting edge, innovative solutions, build effective partnerships, and manage cross-functional projects in a matrixed organization.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills combined with strategic business focus.
  • Experience in developing financial projections and establishing financial goals.
  • Experience with cost benefit analysis on projects/initiatives.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with proven ability to coherently present complex financial topics tailored to audiences of varying seniority and functions in order to create understanding and influence decisions.
