Nielsen’s global marketing team is looking for a highly strategic and creative leader to oversee its in-house creative agency. This role is responsible for developing original design concepts and global marketing campaigns, bringing the brand to life across many different types of creative such as video, web experiences, print and digital advertising, and events.

 

He/she will report directly to the Chief Digital Marketing and Brand Officer, leading a team of art directors and copywriters to consistently deliver strategically sound, high-quality work. This leader will expertly collaborate with teams from around the world, articulating creative ideas to a range of audiences, and will serve as a liaison between global marketing and the broader organization.

 

You should…

 

  • Be an expert at digesting complex content and translating it into thoughtful and strategic creative executions
  • Have a deep familiarity with communication design and data visualization across print, digital and video
  • Demonstrate expertise in digital marketing and design, including interaction and user-centered experience design, with an interest in new platforms and technologies
  • Have a deep familiarity with creative copywriting
  • Be an excellent communicator and collaborator across and upward within the organization
  • Be highly skilled at articulating the strategic rationale behind creative ideas, especially to non-creative audiences
  • Be an expert on current trends in digital marketing, advertising and design and proactively translate these to your job
  • Be a proactive team leader with a positive attitude, the willingness to get your hands dirty, and a proven ability to inspire your team to produce compelling creative.

 

Your day-to-day…

 

  • Lead a team of art directors and copywriters, overseeing their work and providing frequent and insightful feedback that furthers both the project and your creative teams’ skills.
  • Drive and moderate creative brainstorming, guiding discussion and pushing your team to develop fresh conceptual ideas that translate into multi-faceted campaigns.
  • Possess a keen attention to your team’s bandwidth and project requirements, collaborating with project managers to ensure efficient workflows and processes.
  • Build and maintain strong consultative relationships with senior stakeholders and leaders across the organization, and be seen as a subject-matter expert on storytelling and design.

 

 

Qualifications:

 

Required

 

  • 8-10 years of experience in B2B or B2C art direction, with 4+ in creative management roles
  • Strong portfolio of multi-channel creative campaigns that demonstrate strategic design expertise across both digital and print
  • Must be a self-starter and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a matrixed, collaborative team environment
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and business programs such as Microsoft Powerpoint and Google Slides
  • Experience managing copywriter(s) and reviewing/developing marketing and advertising copy
  • BS/BA degree in Visual/Graphic Design or related field

 

Preferred

 

  • Experience in a global role
  • Experience managing remote employees and building a connected and inspired team
  • Familiarity with front-end web languages (HTML, CSS, JS), Bootstrap and Material Design components/conventions and Wordpress experience. Bonus points for knowledge of D3, node.js, and .svg animation.
  • Bonus: experience in Google Drive for business and experience with Trello
