Transmission Subsystem Development Engineer - GPS0003508

The Transmission Subsystem Development/Validation Engineer is a function where the transmission component and subsystem design is developed and tested to meet or exceed customer expectations. In this role, engineers are able to apply a wide range of engineering skills and work at both at component and subsystem level. Engineers also work functional interfaces with the transmission system as it impacts transmission performance and reliability. This opportunity will focus on support of the CVT Variator System development and validation testing.   Responsibilities:
  • Develop transmission hardware to optimize component and subsystem performance (improve durability/reliability, reduce cost)
    • Perform subsystem modeling
    • Develop and execute testing
    • Work with design release engineers to develop design to meet requirements
    • Plan and execute required testing to demonstrate transmission component and subsystem reliability
    • Support ADV Plan development and execution, and maintain test status
    • Lead weekly testing meeting with PDT
  • Lead coordination of subsystem development test activities in conjunction with the needs of analysis, technical specialis, design-release engineering personnel, System Dev/Val Engineers, and System Test Technical Specialists.
    • Develop new test procedures
    • Maintain and optimize current procedures for improved reliability
  • Lead resolution of identified concerns in subsystem development and validation testing, working with transmission system engineers, calibrators, DREs, and lab
Qualifications  Requirements:
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace engineering or equivalent
  • 2 years of automotive engineering experience
  • 1 year minimum of powertrain engineering experience
  • Strong Communication Skills to drive work across organization
  • Ability to think outside the box and challenge current process
  • Ambition to get things done and overcome obstacles
  • Must be willing and able to create and present presentations using PowerPoint to peers, internal/external customers and leadership
 
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • DFSS Black Belt Certification
  • Highly organized and able to work multiple issues simultaneously
  • Experience with powertrain controls interface tools (INCA & MDA software & ETAS hardware preferred) 
  • Knowledge of CVT Transmissions
