Nielsen is looking for a Strategic Program Manager in Nielsen’s Technology Strategy and Delivery organization to drive the execution of Digital Content Ratings strategic programs.   The Digital Content Ratings product responds to the shifting, complex multi-platform, multi-device and multi-distribution landscape by providing a comprehensive measurement of digital content consumption—including streaming video, static web pages and mobile apps—across all major devices and platforms.

As the Digital Content Ratings Strategic Program Manager, you must understand the needs of the business and program scope to work across Nielsen Global Tech Ops (GTO)  to build an integrated plan and drive execution against said plan.  As the Program Manager, you must manage and drive work across multiple cross functional teams as well as manage multiple cross functional dependencies within an integrated plan.  With this complexity you will be responsible to understand the E2E technical product flow as well as the supporting teams to be able to quickly discern how changes will impact downstream/upstream systems and overall program plan.  You must be extremely well organized with very good communication skills to keep the multiple teams/systems and dependencies up to date while keeping alignment across stakeholders as changes occur. You must be able to identify and understand the rationale behind each critical path dependency and how to connect the dots as a part of managing said plan.

You will build partnerships with the Watch CTO Leadership team and their organizations across Nielsen to deliver and implement your designated program.  The person in this role will be assigned high visibility, strategic programs and will be engaged with our leadership team. You will have the opportunity to develop an executive presence through presentations and updates to our Leadership team.  This position is ideal for a program manager with excellent consultative & relationship skills, and a passion for owning large-scale complex programs.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ownership for all program management aspects of the program including:

      • Scope - Define, communicate, and manage the scope of the program.

      • Timeline -  Create, track, and tightly manage the timeline

      • Critical Path - Identifying and manage critical path dependencies across multiple COE and milestones

      • Risk management - Identify & track program risks, drive the development of mitigation / contingency plans to closure

      • Change management - Manage the process by which changes are evaluated, communicated, accepted / rejected, and accounted for in the timeline and requirements.

      • Quality - Ensure all program are implemented with the highest level of quality.

      • Communication - Overall Program Status and program plan reporting to leadership team as well as communicating across COE stakeholders to ensure everyone is moving in lock step.

    • Own the problems that can & will arise in every program - work with stakeholders to identify and decision solutions.

    • Develop a strong understanding of each department's engagement model and implementation methodology to navigate our programs through their respective processes.

    • Coordinate all resources accountable for deliverables on the project plan.  Facilitate all necessary conversations to keep the program on track.

    • Apply techniques and methodologies to help accelerate timelines and ensure higher quality deliverables.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, systems analysis or a related area or equivalent experience; an MBA is preferred but not required.

  • 5 + years in a dynamic business environment with at least 3 years of experience in technology-focused roles

  • A bias for change and the ability to influence a team toward quality and success

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, influencing, and relationship skills

  • Demonstrated leadership skills capable of leading large project teams with minimal direction and involvement from management

  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality results

  • Change agent - does not accept status quo.  Constantly identifies opportunities to improve by thinking in new, unconventional ways.

  • Problem Solver - Someone who can think of innovate, progressive ideas to solve challenges

  • Comfortable navigating matrix organizations

  • Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle and/or Agile Methodologies  preferred

  • Strong communication, persuasion, interpersonal and presentation skills

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple competing initiatives

  • Able to listen and quickly distill a situation and recommend a course of action to drive on-time delivery of project deliverables or client escalations

  • Media, in particular advertising or research industry experience is a plus

  • Ability to lead and develop multiple direct employees

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMI / PMP certification

  • People management experience
