About the position

The Prudential Workplace Solutions Group (WSG) Strategy office (Group Insurance and Retirement) Data Governance team is seeking a talented Data Quality Analyst to support WSG Data Governance/Management team. The qualified person will assist with the execution of a data governance framework for Group Insurance business.

The Data Quality Analyst role will require someone with the skill set necessary to work independently as well as part of a team to help with the implementation of a data governance functionality, (e.g. polices and standards, business glossary/data dictionaries/taxonomies, data model review, data quality profiling/analysis, rules building, data stewardship, data lineage, process improvement, communication and training).

This exciting opportunity will focus on supporting the Group Insurance and Retirement Data Governance team in their day-to-day business as usual (BAU) processes related to data warehouse analysis, data quality issues and their remediation. These processes support various business functions reporting with the ongoing analyzing and evaluating of data across the various sources systems. Minimal travel is required to support, teams, training and on-going role development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following, other duties may be assigned

  • Develop, document, and implement data quality rules, policies, procedures and standards, dashboards, business glossary, data dictionary, etc.
  • Acts as a Subject Matter Expert for data within the Data Warehouse and Data Mart
  • Performs root cause analysis to resolve data discrepancies or troubleshoot systemic anomalies
  • Create and monitor data quality scorecards and data integrity efforts to works with data owners/stewards to resolve data quality issues
  • Perform data profiling and root cause analysis to identify data quality issues opportunities and provide recommendations to work with business and IT for remediation
  • Supports BAU tasks, processes to support internal customers and work with IT resources to resolve them on daily basis
  • Maintain detailed documentation (SOPs), including business glossaries, data dictionaries, data lineage and data rules
  • Excellent analytical ability to understand business issues associated with data management, architecture and governance, business process, in terms of data and related standards
  • Good at writing test scenarios, UAT, and verify results with end users as per business requirements
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel (create/run Macros) and MS Access skills
  • Strong analytical/data analysis and time management skills
  • Proven track records for facilitation skills with the ability to drive issues to closure
  • Proficient in SQL writing to retrieve and manipulate complex data across a variety of database systems (DB2, SQL Server, Oracle, Hadoop)
  • Knowledge of Informatica Data Quality or similar Data Quality tool
  • Excellent knowledge of reporting tools such as Business Objects, Tableau, Cognos
  • Knowledge of Group Insurance and Retirement business is a plus
  • Excellent knowledge of data warehouses and data marts
