The Payments, Virtual Solutions, and Innovation (PVSI) team includes Operations, Cards and Retail Services, Deposit Products Group, the Innovation Group, Treasury Management, Merchant Services, Payment Solutions, and Wells Fargo Virtual Channels and the professional services teams that partner with these businesses. PVSI's focus is on delivering the next generation of payments and deposit capabilities and advancing our digital and online offerings to design new customer experiences and products. Its guiding principles are to start with the customer, move faster, and partner effectively.

The Innovation group, was formed in 2015 to serve as the catalyst for the company to quickly transform its business models, processes, and programs to meet evolving customer needs and the shifting competitive landscape. A key component of the Innovation group is the Wells Fargo Startup Accelerator (WFSA). This enterprise-wide program is charged with finding innovative, early-stage startups in the fintech and enterprise support space. Key to the program’s success is sourcing these startups and finding active business line sponsors within Wells Fargo willing to work in partnership with the startup and WFSA to test and learn.

The Strategy Consultant is a strategic role to help drive the needs of the WFSA. The key responsibilities of the role include

  • Vetting startup applications, looking for relevant value to business lines across Wells Fargo at large
  • Make recommendations for potential investments thru the WFSA program
  • Build and deepen relationships with Wells Fargo business line managers and executives, the key partners to the program’s success
  • Engaging with other like-minded banks, corporate investing groups, and other startup accelerators/incubators
  • Participate and represent the WFSA at various events
  • Managing the WFSA’s application management system (using the Salesforce platform)

The ideal candidate requires a ‘management consulting’ skillset, including ability to work independently or as part of a team, in a fast-paced environment, and with comfort amongst ambiguity. We are seeking candidates who have excellent communication skills and able to coordinate with various team members from different business lines and also external vendors, startup, event coordinators.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of strategic planning experience

Other Desired Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of financial services and products.
  • Extensive experience in one or a combination of the following: project management, implementation, or strategic planning
  • Ability to think strategically, implement, and deliver business objectives
  • Ability to influence and collaborate at all internal organizational levels
  • Ability to communicate within a geographically dispersed organization
  • Ability to facilitate and lead meetings to reach conclusions, identify tasks, record actions, and achieve results
  • Ability to lead during times of ambiguity and change
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with an MBA preferred
  • A working understanding of the Salesforce platform

Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
