Wealth and Investment Management (WIM) is one of the company’s four main divisions. WIM businesses build enduring client relationships through sound, thoughtful and objective advice. We help our clients by developing individualized plans for everything from retirement goals to business succession planning, to family legacy intentions. Services include comprehensive planning and advice, investment management, brokerage, private banking, estate planning strategies, trust, insurance and both individual and institutional retirement. This position supports two businesses focused on clients requiring more complex, full balance sheet solutions: Wells Fargo Wealth Management and Abbot Downing.

The Strategy Consultant 2 will be a member of a small team focused on the highest priorities of the Wealth Management and Abbot Downing leadership teams.  This strategy team executes on high impact consulting engagements across a variety of topics that drive overall business growth and help position the organizations for future success. These engagements include, but are not limited to: annual strategic planning, market-level business diagnostics, and client segmentation strategies. This role comes with significant visibility, as the strategy team engages at the business unit operating committee level.

The successful candidate must be a collaborative team member capable of initiating and managing action. S/he will have exceptional problem solving skills and be an effective communicator who relies on rigorous analysis and data rather than conventional “wisdom” to shape recommendations.  The role requires a sense of urgency and passion for results.

This position is available in Charlotte NC, San Francisco CA and St. Louis, MO.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of strategic planning experience

Desired Qualifications

  • 3+ years of financial services industry experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively, in both written and verbal formats, with senior executive-level leaders
  • Ability to provide leadership to a matrixed organization environment
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Outstanding problem solving and decision making skills
  • Advanced Microsoft PowerPoint skills
  • Experience using business knowledge and critical thinking skills to deliver upstream and downstream project impacts

Other Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in Wealth, Asset Management or Investment Management
  • Knowledge of the wealth management, private banking and brokerage industry
  • Experience in management consulting
