Staff R&D Project Manager (Product Development)


DePuy Synthes, a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting for a Staff R&D Project Manager in our Sports Product Development group, located in Raynham, MA.

As a Staff Project Manager, you will provide personal expertise, as well as project leadership for R&D product development related projects. You will act as the Project Management subject matter expert and will identify critical paths and roadblocks within a project, offer solutions to roadblocks and will provide leadership and guidance to team members.

  In this role you will:
  • Plan, conduct and direct research, development or engineering assignments related to new product development or integration.
  • Conceive, plan, and implement solutions to technical problems requiring unconventional approaches, new designs, and equipment and process development.
  • Identify appropriate project strategies that match product and market goals.
  • Understand and follow the New Product Development process.
  • Lead team members through comprehensive risk mitigation assessment and planning techniques.
  • Work with team members and cross-functional partners to develop project plans and project risk analyses for all assigned projects.
  • Communicate project status to all project stakeholders. Communication includes: project meeting minutes, post-market introduction reports, monthly updates and any status or project information needed.
  • Be responsible for defining key project constraints such as scope, schedule, budget, resources and risks.
  • Clearly communicate roles and expectations to team members on a regular basis and team-wide accountability.
  • Be the lead contact for all internal stakeholders (manufacturing, accounting, purchasing, sterilization, packaging, etc.) regarding project activities.
  • Establish and manage relationships with all stakeholders (global & domestic).
  • Liaise with functional managers or stakeholders as needed to ensure project goals are achieved.
  • Lead project teams and work with management to resolve resource gaps.
  • Know and follow all laws and policies that apply to one’s job, and maintain the highest levels of professionalism, ethics and compliance at all times.
  • Diligently participate in our compliance program-related activities as denoted by your supervisor or Chief Compliance Officer.
  • Promote and foster the highest standards of professionalism, ethics and compliance, and actively support our compliance program-related initiatives and activities.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or related fields required.
  • A minimum of 6 years relevant industry experience is required.
  • Experience leading a project team from concept/feasibility through commercialization is required.
  • Experience acting as the lead technical engineer on a project from concept/feasibility through commercialization is highly preferred.
  • Medical device experience (mechanical and/or biologics) preferred.
  • Master’s Degree (business or related field) preferred.
  • Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and manage a dynamic workload is required.
  • Demonstrated exceptional problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills are required.
  • Proficiency utilizing the MS Office Suite (Project, Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook, SharePoint) is required.
  • Must be able to work independently, provide multiple solutions to problems and effectively integrate systems.
  • Well organized, self-motivated, energetic, creative and resourceful.
  • Must demonstrate strong leadership, management and team work qualities.
  • This position will be located in Raynham, MA may require up to 20% travel domestic and international.
