Sr. Technologist

Provide leadership, guidance and support for the Quality Assurance Technology Team in the development of technical change analysis and root cause analysis across the enterprise technology footprint. From a change management perspective, this position is responsible for evaluating technical and procedural soundness of proposed changes, identify improvement opportunities, drive standard operating procedures and participate on the Change Control Board (CAB). This role also performs reason for outage (RFO) management for major incidents in enterprise technology. Coordinate across IT stakeholders to identify issue ownership, drive root cause analysis, identify / track corrective actions, present findings in outage review meetings. Identify process and standards gaps, working selected process improvement projects to completion and launch. Provide technical leadership on complex projects and research new technology for use by department.

  • Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Managers, Architects, Directors, and VPs in determining root cause on major outages and implementing process improvements
  • Research technology products with domain experts to make recommendations to leadership
  • Review plans for business continuity, including monitoring system utilization/performance for capacity planning purposes
  • Act as a general technical expert to provide technical support for applications
  • Assist in troubleshooting application, networking and operating systems problems
  • Guide Developers, Architects, System Administrators and Software Analysts as needed

Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner
  • A demonstrated understanding of infrastructure technologies and concepts is preferred
  • Ability to demonstrate lateral thinking required to solve complex technical problems
  • Ability to collaborate well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources; has experience working with others on a global basis; applies knowledge to coach and mentor others
  • Ability to build consensus across interdisciplinary environments (across technical teams, across client domains)
  • Advanced knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology
  • Advanced knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model
  • Advanced knowledge of network devices and basic network appliances
  • Advanced knowledge of network designing software, such as Visio
  • Advanced knowledge of at least two application server platforms (WebLogic, WebSphere, Tomcat, JBOSS, etc.)
  • Advanced knowledge of at least three development languages (Java, C/C++, ObjectiveC, Perl, Python, ASP/.Net, etc.)
  • Advanced knowledge of at least three development or test automation tools (ANT, Maven, Hudson/Jenkins, JUnit, JMeter, etc.)
  • Advanced knowledge of at least three development frameworks (Struts, Spring MVC, Spring Security, JQuery, AXIS 2.0, etc.)
  • Ability to perform duties in a very fast pace environment and ability to learn new technology quickly

BA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS or related field or equivalent work experience

  • 10 plus years experience designing or configuring systems and/or applications
  • 6 years Relational Database Design and Maintenance
  • Experience working in Telecommunications industry
  • Technology agnostic and experience working with multiple technology stacks
