Sr QA Automation Engineer


The essential responsibilities of the Sr. QA Automation Engineer are to conduct thorough product testing and maintain agreed upon quality standards in order to provide the highest quality software products to both external and internal customers.  Works with the Product Manager and Scrum Team to understand the business requirements and objectives relative to the desired functionality of products and applications.  Evaluates and tests new or modified software to determine that software meets user requirements and established quality standards.  Work with automation tools like Selenium, Robot Framework.  Use knowledge of systems and technologies, as well as troubleshooting skills, to investigate defects in order to determine the potential cause for failed tests. Enhance the automated test suite, reporting services, and processes as needed. Perform quality engineering reviews of automation scripts for compliance with department standards. Effectively communicate with QA team members.

  • Writes and executes detailed automated test scripts; performs complex function, integration and regression tests.
  • Documents software issues and enhancement requests and assists development with concise and detailed steps for duplication problems found during manual and automated functional, integration, and regression tests.
  • Works seamlessly and acts as a key contributor as part of an Agile Scrum Team taking part in Regular Ceremonies such as Standups, Planning, Grooming, and Retrospectives.
  • Assists fellow team members and customers with problem reporting and resolution and maintaining appropriate follow-up communications throughout the resolution process.
  • Ensure all software products meet the highest quality possible by following industry recognized Q/A methodologies and best practices.
  • Experience using RALLY and JIRA a plus
  • Experience using Robot Framework or Python (or very strong desire and ability to learn)
  • Experience with API Testing and associated Tools such as Postman or SOAPUI.


Required Knowledge and skills Provide minimum Educational and Experience required; Describe 2-3 core areas of functional or professional knowledge required in the position and at least 2-3 soft skills (e.g. communication, leadership, organizational). List the minimum requirements for success in the position; be specific (e.g. Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel; Ability to handle multiple and changing priorities)  
  • Practical understanding and demonstrated practice of software construction, computer science, and software industry best practices related to test automation.
  • Excellent written & communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Risk Assessment.
  • Able to write manual & automated test cases using open source tools such as Selenium(preferred) or similar
  • Experience with issue reporting & tracking tools such as Rally(preferred) and JIRA
  • Desire and ability to learn new skills and improve upon current skills.
  • Solve complex automation challenges and work on complex projects with minimal supervision
  • Ability to comprehend complexity, to fully understand a product with all of its business and technological implications, and to approach the improvement of its quality from that perspective.
