Sr Campaign Specialist


Kelley Blue Book, a Cox Automotive Brand, is currently looking for a Senior Campaign Specialist to join our Advertising Operations team in Irvine, CA.
The Senior Campaign Specialist executes ad serving operational aspects of online advertising for Cox Automotive Media related properties, including creative retrieval, trafficking, troubleshooting issues, and prioritizing daily workflow to ensure that advertising revenue is maximized via on time and quality delivery.  This role will take the lead on working with their client and our sales team to ensure quality delivery and execution.  As such, this role will provide escalation support for junior team members.  This role will also focus on continuous improvement of our ad operations processes to ensure Cox Automotive Media is in line with overall advertising industry trends through project management of tactical initiatives, and will represent the Campaign Management team in strategic discussions with internal partner work groups to influence decisioning around process improvements and best practices.
Your Role: 
  • Lead the fulfillment of assigned advertising campaigns with a focus on on-time delivery and quality execution; tasks include: request/receipt of advertising creative from clients, creative testing, creative upload, proper targeting, rule/template execution, 3rd/4th party client tags, rich media code, etc. via OMS and Ad Server.
  • Major contributor in strategic continuous improvements efforts for the Campaign Management team.  Act as project lead for tactical initiatives, meet deadlines on deliverables and provide regular status updates on milestone achievements.
  • Guidance and oversight of the work performed by Campaign Specialist positions for products, process, and best practices on trafficking and creative retrieval- working with both internal teams and creative agencies.
  • Serve as an escalation point with agencies, advertisers, sales, solutions vendors, or internal teams regarding any creative, trafficking, reporting issues and process issues or questions.
  • Interact directly with new and existing clients, our sales teams, and other teams using judgment and discretion on how to best resolve creative, trafficking or delivery issues.
  • Work closely with other Ad Operations teams regarding the development of new and revised ad products.  Responsible for review and verification of all product documentation prior to publishing to the Campaign Management team.
  • Ensure assigned campaigns are properly implemented and delivering via QA tasks where applicable including: 3rd party reporting verification/validation, auditing of targeting for both national and regional campaigns, and review of ad server or other delivery reports.
  • Perform third party reporting verification across all campaigns where applicable, ensuring third party campaigns are running and tracking accurately. 
  • Facilitate production of daily trafficking reports for Ad Ops teams, running applicable reports to help maintain and prioritize tasks. Works with Campaign Management Lead and Manager to help maintain report, keeping it up to date, changing as requested. 
  • Maintain an advanced knowledge of the products and site taxonomies of consumer sites that are part of the Cox Automotive Media Group portfolio
  • Work closely within the team to help prioritize daily traffic tasks, responsibilities and functions.
  • Facilitate relationship with outsourced team, ensuring adherence with ticket delivery and SLAs.
  • Maintain strong, healthy relationships across all teams (sales, product and ad ops teams, etc.) keeping them apprised of any issues or anomalies that impact our business.  Represent team as proxy for leadership as needed
  • Provide input and recommendations to Campaign Management Lead for maintenance of process documentation, such as Order Entry Guidelines to ensure up to date information can be used by all team members.
  • Demonstrate the flexibility necessary to adjust to changing/additional duties as the needs of our clients and our operations change.  Additional responsibilities may be delegated in order to assist meeting our goals and mission.


Required Experience (minimum): 
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university
  • 4+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years online ad trafficking experience using an ad server, preferably DFP.
  • 3+ years experience working with the various forms of online creative formats preferable (html, java, flash, rich media, etc.)
  • 2+ years experience related to backend ad server framework and algorithms.
  • 2+ years experience working with 3rd/4th party ad servers, data tags, rich media vendors, etc.

  • Moderate understanding of the advertising technology landscape, and experience interacting with many of the leading players across the “Lumascape”.

  • Proven proficiency of publisher ad tags.
  • Analytical skills and ability to identify trends in data; deciphering underlying causes.
  • Experience helping implement and maintain training programs.
  • Proactive, with excellent attention to detail and good follow-thru abilities.

  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Proficient personal computer skills including MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
