Senior Windows Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining and supporting all components of the New York Life’s End User Windows systems and associated infrastructure, including all related applications, servers and services. Individuals in this position will need to maintain a high level of ownership and investment in tasks associated with both new and ongoing windows based needs within the IT environment. Incumbents must be able to lead efforts in troubleshooting, remediating and optimizing any and all Windows/Office based issues, while also working with engineering requirements and providing strategic recommendations to management.  

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years of senior-level engineering experience in an enterprise IT environment, having performed operational and break/fix activity along with engineering and design
  • Subject Matter Expertise -  A deep understanding of the technologies, principals and methods within the End User Computing domain such as but not limited to, Virtual desktop/workspace, Windows 7/10, Office 365, GPO’s.
  • Communications –  Must have strong writing skills, ability to articulate solutions and ideas, to all levels of management, in a clear and concise manner, as well as adequate presentation skills
  • Must be results-oriented, have knowledge of new and legacy End User Computing technologies, have knowledge of the relevant End User Computing platforms and environments, and be familiar with the business process, functions and data within the End User Computing domain to provide innovative, insightful and secure solutions.
  • Responsible for developing End User Computing solutions for New York Life, consistent with business objectives.
  • Maintain relationships with vendor partners to ensure awareness of the product roadmaps.
  • Problem Solving – All candidates must demonstrate a strong ability for problem solving. 
  • Project Management – Must have a working knowledge of basic project management and task tracking skills
  • Collaboration – Must demonstrate a strong ability to work with multi-team framework.  Both as an individual and as a member of a larger group.
  • Research, recommend and introduce new technologies and new uses of existing technologies. 

Desired Skill

  • Broad knowledge of other Microsoft systems infrastructure products such as Azure and Windows Server, SCCM
  • Basic scripting and development skills & PowerShell a plus
  • Must have excellent Customer Service skills 
  • Proficient experience with modern authentication remediation with inclusion of multiple modern browsers, Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus, client profile migration, and mailbox migration experience. 
  • Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and presentational skills
  • Develops detailed End User Computing designs.  This includes infrastructure specifications, software versions, and configurations.
  • Acts as an expert source of technology and application knowledge within End User Computing.
