Senior Specialist, Copywriter


Position Summary:Cox Enterprises’ Corporate Communications and Public Affairs department is looking for a Senior Specialist, Copywriter, to create and tell our company story — both internally and externally. S/he will have experience creating engaging content across multiple channels and the ability to match and change tone and voice as needed. This role requires a strong attention to detail and project management skills. Must love drafting catchy headlines, writing attention-grabbing copy and partnering with designers, other writers and project managers.  Primary Responsibilities:
  • Write clear, compelling copy for multiple channels that resonates with our employees, customers and community members.
  • Match and change tone and voice to align with programs, leaders and channels.
  • Manage, create and publish original, high quality content for digital and print channels.
  • Create and edit headlines, video scripts, newsletter blurbs as well as a variety of content (website page copy, blog posts, PR copy, etc.).
  • Partner with corporate communications teams to write copy based on a brief and key message.
  • Collaborate with our in-house Creative Studio to develop copy for internal and external campaigns and projects.
  • Conduct high-quality research and interviews to understand the goal of the piece.
  • Follow SEO best practices and optimize content for search.
  • Edit and proofread copy as needed.



  • BS/BA in Marketing, Advertising, English, Journalism or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of AP Style.
  • Three to five years’ proven copywriting experience — agency and newspaper experience preferred.
  • A persuasive portfolio of work and a passion for concise, effective, compelling copy.
  • Experience in writing for websites, newsletters, social media and print publications.
  • Exceptional ability to quickly change tone/voice between channels and projects.
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Strong research and interviewing skills — a journalistic spirit.
  • Ability to learn new content management systems and adapt as technology evolves.

·        Ability to edit images in Photoshop.
