Senior Source Manager, Project Rubicon-Chemicals

Project Rubicon:
J&J Consumer aspires to deliver ~$125MM in value through our 2018-20 Chemicals Category Strategy & associated road-map. The vast majority of this value will be enabled by Project Rubicon, the vehicle through which we will transform the Chemicals Category by identifying complexity reduction opportunities across the chemicals portfolio. Project Rubicon is a critical program within the J&J Consumer Supply Chain’s end-to-end value delivery program “How-to-Win”. Chemicals constitute the core technology behind our products, the functional performance of which is critical to the value we deliver to our end consumers.

This role will support execution of Rubicon-identified Projects in North America, by closely collaborating with both Global & Regional Category teams, global Rubicon Project Management, technical & supply chain partners, and Finance. Partnering with the Category teams, s/he will lead all steps related to supplier exits through to removal of the supplier from our material specs.

Senior Source Manager, Project Rubicon – Chemicals (NA):
  • Will be the North America Rubicon Chemicals knowledge expert and liaison for senior business partners, keeping the organization appropriately informed of Program and project risks/mitigations and developments as it pertains to the North America region.
  • Lead and drive supplier exits identified within the Rubicon program to completion, which include but is not limited to ensuring material transition timelines are met; exited supplier inventory write-offs minimized; manage all associated supplier communications; track and report progress; escalate issues / concerns to management.
  • Work closely with the North America Source and Business/Supply Chain leaders to ensure robust execution of chemical category projects under Project Rubicon (complexity reduction initiative).
  • Lead ramp up of supplier changes identified by the Rubicon program through to closure, indicated by addition of supplier to appropriate specifications.
  • Emphasis will be on delivering projects on-time, within budget in a compliant and reliable manner.
  • Effectively identify and remove roadblocks that stand in the way of project/program completion.
  • Act as the program knowledge expert within the region during interactions with Global business partners and External business partners, as required.
  • Utilize strong communication skills and business acumen to lead the appropriate program discussions with Stakeholders, Sr. Leaders and Governance/Decision Making forums. Ability to produce and present clear status reports in a tactful and candid manner.
  • Have the following competencies:
    • Ability to analyze their respective portfolio to derive business conclusions and enable effective portfolio decision making.
    • Ability to understand and articulate how financial decisions for programs/projects affect the bottom line; knowledge about how financial principles and practices impact the business.
    • Ability to identify and remove roadblocks that stand in the way of project or program completion.
    • Ability to establish clear project scope (In & Out), define the extent of the project; define project deliverables; establish milestones and a detailed time line; define/align to resource requirements and establish a total project budget.
    • Define business case, develop and implement project charters and metrics; obtain stakeholder alignment; identify/manage project risks and develop risk mitigation plans; be a source of conflict resolution; manage project budgets.
    • Understand and know how to perform cost/benefit analysis; identify budgetary needs and maintain focus on budget.
    • Be aware of the approach to utilizing existing functional procedures that impact the project/ program.
    • Responsible for measuring and reporting on the Rubicon Dashboard/Scorecard metrics.
    • Ability to undertake continual adjustments with stakeholders in a persuasive manner, to keep projects on course by use of positive win/win attitude.
    • Ability to analyze the future impact of decisions by taking a big-picture approach, to strategically position projects within the business to relate to short and long-term objectives.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of 8 years combined business experience.
  • Experience in two or more of the following functional areas: Engineering, Research and Development, Sales, Planning, Finance, Marketing and/or Operational function.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supply chain environment experience.
  • Project Management, Supply Chain, Operations, Procurement, Engineering, R&D, Sales, or Finance.
  • Ability to meet the project objectives by successfully managing, tracking and implementing successful strategies with regards to scope, quality, time, and cost.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% domestic.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of the commercial landscape and consumer, drug or medical device industry experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience managing a portfolio of projects highly preferred.
  • Solid business knowledge, sound judgment, can communicate with technical partners, can influence stakeholders and change management skills.
  • Experience with financial statements and methodologies (P&Ls, Balance Sheets, COGs, GPs, ROAs, NPVs, IRRs).
