Senior Security Engineer

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
FreeWheel is hiring a Senior IT Security Specialist based in New York who will report to the Sr. IT Security Manager. In this position, you will work with the Operations team and will be responsible for managing and enhancing our existing networking, systems, and application related security. The ideal candidate will have not only the relevant technical skills and industry experience required but also the positive attitude and interpersonal skills needed to interact with our team.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Monitor our organization's networks for security breaches and investigate a violation when one occurs.
- In depth experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g. Amazon AWS) and how to implement cloud security best practices.
- Establish threat modeling practices and ensure integration into the product life cycle. This includes working with our developers to design optimal security best practices when developing code for our product line.
-Experience with penetration testing and looking for vulnerabilities in our systems before they can be exploited.
-Build on our existing best practices, standards and assist in enforcing these standards.
- Develop and implement an Incident Reporting & Response System to address security incidents and respond to alleged policy violations or complaints from external parties.
- Collaborate with software development teams to embed a security mindset into our products and practices (e.g. code reviews, reference implementations, security tooling and practices)
- Develop and implement an ongoing risk assessment program targeting information security and privacy matters; recommend methods for vulnerability detection and remediation, and oversee vulnerability testing.
- Monitor compliance with the organization's information security policies and procedures among employees, contractors and third parties.
- Research the latest information security (IT) security trends.

-Experience using enterprise search tools (ie., Splunk, Elk, Logstash, etc.), scripting, devsecops, and environments using Docker/K8s


SKILLS NEEDED

- Have 5-8 years experience working in an IT security role
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
- CISSP preferred
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral
- Organized, responsive and highly thorough problem solver
