Ethicon, a member of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is currently recruiting for a Senior Marketing Manager, Global Strategic Marketing, to be located in Somerville, NJ.


The Ethicon business offers a broad range of products, platforms and technologies-including sutures, hemostasis products, surgical staplers, trocars and synthetic mesh devices-that are used in a wide variety of open and minimally invasive surgical procedures, and energy based surgical devices.  Specialties include support for treatment of colorectal and thoracic conditions, women's health conditions, hernias, cancer and obesity.

The Senior Marketing Manager, Global Strategic Marketing will be responsible for leading all aspects of portfolio strategy within the problematic bleeding market segment. This individual will lead all marketing components of the NPD process for new innovation focused on meeting unmet needs in problematic bleeding, and be responsible for brand management of the EVARREST Fibrin Sealant Patch.
The Senior Marketing Manager, Global Strategic Marketing will be responsible for setting platform strategy in the problematic bleeding segment, including brand segmentation, positioning, pricing strategies, claims, lifecycle management, and business development strategies.  This individual will participate in the development of an ETHICON Biosurgery global strategy for addressing problematic bleeding, partnering with regional commercial teams to ensure flawless global implementation, ongoing program development, and identification of global growth opportunities. 


The Senior Marketing Manager, Global Strategic Marketing will:

  • Lead new product development efforts related specifically to addressing problematic bleeding.
  • Provide commercial input to the advancement of product concepts through the new product development process including gathering insights and voice of customer, assessing strategic fit, developing the business case, implementing target product profiles, and leading product launch excellence. 
  • Partner with R&D, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Finance, Supply Chain, and regional commercial teams to ensure all New Product Development is integrated into our Customer Engagement Model, validated by customer insights. 
  • Be accountable to reach financial targets within specified budgets and timeframes and ensure applicable company compliance with all relevant country and regional requirements, company regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required.
  • An Advanced Degree is preferred (i.e. MBA, MS).  
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant business experience is required. 
  • A minimum of 3 years in Marketing is required. 
  • Experience in the healthcare industry is required. 
  • Experience in the Medical Device Industry is strongly preferred. 
  • Previous regional in-line marketing and/or global strategic marketing experience is preferred.  
  • Experience with Marketing Excellence/Mastery, including Launch Excellence principles is required. 
  • Experience in product development including needs assessment, portfolio management, and product lifecycle management is preferred. 
  • Prior experience in an agency environment with proven client management, branding, and partnership experience with senior level clients in Fortune 500 companies is preferred.
  • Proven ability to work in a Global matrix organization is required. 
  • Excellent cross-functional and influence management skills, and the ability to develop customer relationships is required. 
  • Experience with supply chain, global brand management, influencing a Medical Device commercial organization, and new product launch is preferred.  
  • Demonstrated experience developing and leveraging customer insights is preferred. 
  • This position may require up to 30% travel, including domestic and international, and is based in Somerville, NJ.
