The Senior Manager - GS/ESP Value Marketing is responsible for supporting the design, development, execution and tracking of all internal and external value marketing efforts across Global Services and ESP. The Senior Manager - GS/ESP Value Marketing must be highly motivated and will work closely with multiple departments - including GS/ESP Change and Communications, Corporate Change and Communications and Service Performance Reporting and Analytics teams.


The Senior Manager - GS/ESP Value Marketing is responsible for developing a strong understanding of key stakeholders both internal and external, gathering insights through leveraging Business engagement leads, VOC/VOE, contact center, Service Performance Reporting and Analytics team, advisory groups and other mechanisms, and mapping those insights to current services/offerings in conjunction with the Change and Communications Lead. Additionally, this role will be responsible for creating inventory of examples/case studies of GS/ESP value creation, as well as leveraging the data produced by the Service Performance Reporting & Analytics team to measure progress on key Value Marketing KPIs.


This role is responsible for ensuring brand integrity by leading efforts across HR, Procurement and Finance shared services within the GS. The Value Marketing Lead will also utilize novel marketing communications approaches to articulate the value proposition of GS/ESP across J&J sectors/functions and employees and build our brand in partnership with GS/ESP Change & Communications team. They will also support innovation through the identification of unmet customer needs through collaboration with GS/ESP Strategy team and other teams to integrate value improvement opportunities and new ways to create value into our strategies. Additional responsibility may include new service launch support to track and communicate value generated; collaboration with key customers and key opinion leaders to ensure general sentiments are captured and communicated accurately; development and implementation of comprehensive marketing communication programs; conducting assessments on new  GS services or ESP program information is messaged appropriately; assessing the need and driving the development of new case-studies / value generated stories.


This position will report to the Senior Director, GS/ESP Strategy.

  • Responsible for value marketing within GS Strategy & Transformation; overseeing the development and implementation of product/procedure market strategies that drive tactical execution for maximizing profitability and adoption within GS Shared Services.
  • Set the Global Services Strategy & Transformation organization’s customer service mindset by providing vision and direction with a defined long-range plan for value marketing within the organization.
  • Develop a strong understanding of key stakeholders (internal/external), their needs/unmet needs/expectations/preferences, journey and insights (leveraging Business engagement leads, VOC/VOE, contact center, advisory groups and other mechanisms) and map to current services/offerings in collaboration with the Change & Communications Lead.
  • Collaborate with GS/ESP Strategy team and other teams to integrate value improvement opportunities and new ways to create value into Value Marketing strategies/tactics.
  • Lead the development of the value marketing program in partnership with J&J GS leadership team. Develop a program that aligns with the J&J GS strategy and delivers value to the organization.
  • Ensure brand integrity by leading efforts across HR, Procurement and Finance shared services within the GS to increase the effectiveness of the J&J GS organization and help build a world-class experience for customers.
  • Utilize Novel Marketing Communications approaches (channels, campaigns, viral ideas, experiences etc.) to articulate the value proposition of GS/ESP (across J&J sectors/functions and employees) and build GS/ESP brand (perception/equity, preference, advocacy, etc.). Partner with GS/ESP Change & Communications team and the Corp Communications team for planning and execution.
  • Support copywriting and creative direction for various marketing deliverables (e.g., email marketing, advertising, presentations, collateral, and digital content).
  • Create an inventory of compelling examples/case studies of GS/ESP value creation – past, present and future (across functions/sectors/regions) as well as an inventory of examples/case studies for external comparators.
  • Leverage the data produced by the Service Performance Reporting & Analytics to track progress on KPIs tied to employee experience, employee productivity, functional excellence, efficiencies to inform Value Marketing strategy.
  • Understand and shape leading and emerging practices for shared services based on industry trends and external market intelligence to proactively drive value and high performance for the J&J.
  • Operate as member of the J&J GS/ESP Strategy leadership team, representing the unique challenges and needs for the Shared Services Architecture organization in serving internal and external customers.
  • Manage J&J GS leadership and peer relationships required to support efficient delivery of value marketing.
  • Collaborate closely with the Strategy & Transformation leader and senior J&J GS leaders to address value marketing challenges across the GS.
  • Identify and manage large scale value marketing programs across the Global Services organization.

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required
  • A minimum of 7 years progressive marketing communications or marketing experience is required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities; formal presentation and facilitation skills
  • Agency experience is preferred
  • Prior experience operating in a matrix global framework is required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional global environment is critical
  • Effective and strong partnership and relationship building skills with key stakeholders is required
  • Ability to reinforce a culture focused on continuous improvement while building employee-centric repeatable and sustainable processes
  • Previous experience planning and executing a multi-channel communication strategy is requruied
  • Track record to drive business results – identifies and capitalizes on opportunities, identifies risks/issues, assesses implications, formulates recommendations, and drives sound decisions that deliver results

  • May require up to 25% domestic and/or international travel

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA in Business, Marketing, Communications, Broadcasting
  • A minimum of 2 years of CPG brand marketing experience
  • Experience working closely with media agencies to develop on-strategy paid multi-platform marketing campaigns (original programming, genre, and trade campaigns)
  • Experience reviewing and providing feedback on creative assets (video, messaging, copy, etc.), ensuring brand accuracy and consistency within each campaign
  • Ability to work with outside agencies and internal Research on obtaining and analyzing key data for campaigns
  • Knowledge of trends in the marketplace, especially competitively within the Entertainment space
  • Strong partnership with peers and other senior level partners (Vice Presidents and Sr. Directors) developing and implementing the Shared Services Architecture vision
  • Passionate about building a “Best in Class” shared services organization that drives business success
