The Wound Closure platform is one of the most significant within ETHICON, diving much of the brand equity and is the market share leader.

The Ethicon GSM Wound Closure (WC) Strategic Brands Leader is responsible for global brand strategies and driving innovation, for conventional sutures with a focus on the $1B+ VICRYL™ family of brands, PLUS antibacterial portfolio, flagship CV brand PROLENE™, infection and upgrade strategies. This includes ensuring delivery of business plan, working with supply chain to ensure supply continuity, managing to an efficient portfolio, drive innovation strategy, and evidence generation activities to refresh core brands. In conjunction with cross-functional partners, this individual will drive an infection strategy that drives growth in the short-term, and establish ETHICON as the partner of choice for infection management in the long-term. Key to this role will be ensuring deep understanding of markets and customers, to uncover insights that will drive portfolio & innovation decisions and enable greater financial success.

The Strategic Brands Leader will manage a team of marketing managers who will be responsible for setting WC brand strategy including segmentation, messaging & positioning, pricing strategies, TPP & claims, regional launch execution, new product launch preparation and launch excellence processes, VOC & insights to inform brand strategy and pipeline development, and business development strategies. You will work closely work closely with Regional & Local Marketing teams to ensure flawless global launch of NPI’s and evidence, and achievement of business plans. Additionally, you will partner with Franchise based cross-functional partners such as R&D, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, GHEMA, Supply Chain in NPD stage gates, including TPP, revenue model, and evidence generation strategy.

RESPONSIBILTIES:
  • Responsible for co-creating the strategy for the Ethicon Wound Closure platform, including brand, upgrade, and infection prevention strategies.
  • Partner with Supply Chain on the Demand Planning and Forecasting to ensure continuity of supply.
  • Global brand Management for Wound Closure conventional brands, including $1B+ VICRYL®, flagship CV brand PROLENE®, and PLUS platform.
  • Responsible for setting platform strategy including platform segmentation, positioning, pricing strategies, claims, life cycle management, and business development strategies.
  • Engage with customers and KOL’s to identify key insights; this engagement can be in lab, OR, or ad board setting.
  • Partner with Regional Marketing and Sales to ensure flawless global implementation of the platform area and ongoing portfolio management.
  • Partner with R&D, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Regional Marketing, Finance and key customers in planning, coordinating and sequencing product launches, customer targeting; identifying unmet customer needs, and providing direction for global growth opportunities.
  • Partner with R&D, Supply Chain, New Business Development, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Regional & Local Marketing to identify unmet needs; evaluation options; and providing direction for global growth opportunities.
  • Partner with R&D, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Regional Marketing, to ensure all New Product Development is integrated into our Customer Engagement Model, validated by customer insights and are aligned to key unmet needs.
  • Build a talent pipeline, identifying, developing, and attracting talent.
  • Business & Financial Acumen- understanding the needs and priorities of the broader business with a penchant for understanding the use of metrics/numbers to gauge overall performance
  • This person has the responsibility to reach financial targets within specified budgets and timeframes.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required, MBA is preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years of sales & marketing business experience is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of leadership/management experience is preferred.
  • Experience working and leading across a matrixed organization is required.
  • Global experience is preferred.
  • Medical device, healthcare experience is preferred.
  • Cross-functional experience is preferred (i.e. Sales, Finance, R&D, etc.).
  • Up to 40% overnight travel is required
