Senior Dev/Ops Engineer


Description

Cox Communications is looking for a platform and application support engineer who will be responsible for engineering and supporting the ICE platform (sales frontend).  The primary focus of the role is to leverage aspects of platform engineering to automate and tune the platform build and configurations.  This position requires interactions with Enterprise Solution Design, OS Administration, Network Engineering, DevOps and testing teams.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:Design, document, configure and automate the platform build for non-prod environmentsCreate MOPs and facilitate handoffs to the production support teamDrive platform improvements and standardization effortsAnalyze platform statistics and provide tuning recommendationsWork closely with enterprise configuration management team to build CI/CD pipelinesWork with minimal supervision and able to handle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced agile development environmentProvide tier 3 application support and backup for on-call rotation as neededCommunicate clearly with boundary partners (Enterprise Solution Design, OS Administration, Network Engineering, DevOps and testing teams)
Qualifications

Qualifications
Required: Solid understanding of Java application platforms such as JBoss EAP and Oracle WebLogic• Excellent scripting skills (Ansible, Chef, Puppet)• Familiarity with source control tools (GIT, SVN), Jenkins CI/CD• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with great attention to detail• Ability to work with minimal direction and in a team environment• Ability to learn and understand new technology quickly and thoroughly• 3+ years of experience in a DevOps position or comparable engineer role• 2+ years of experience with Linux operating systems• Strong written and oral communications skills
Preferred: BS/BA in related discipline (i.e., Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems)• Experience with the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana)• Experience working with APM tools such as New Relic or Splunk• Experience with Agile development methodologies
