Senior Brand Manager, Aspirin

The primary responsibilities of this role, Senior Brand Manager - Aspirin, are to:

 

  • Establish and direct the development and implementation of the brand's marketing plans and budget and long-term financial plans to help achieve the category's volume, profit and spending objectives;
  • Ensuring that the brand strategy, for global brands (e.g. Bayer, Aleve, Claritin), are in line with or leading global brand ;objectives/strategies/initiatives, and that partnering/synergies are explored and initiated when appropriate;
  • Effectively plan to ensure that top-line sales goals and bottom-line profit goals are met, by overseeing the execution of brand strategies through the Brand Management team, other functional departments, and external vendors, and by recognizing the profitability and revenue impact of all business opportunities;
  • Develop a solid understanding of the meaning and interrelationships of key financial indicators, while being able to readily identify gaps in budget and profit plans;
  • Partner with Innovation Director and Mangers to develop and execute three to five year new product development (NPD) strategy to support overall brand objectives;
  • Manage, coach and develop direct reports/Junior marketing staff as well as indirect reports and cross-functional peers;
  • Supervise the staff to achieve brand objectives, and clearly communicate standards of performance through clear examples of culture and values, council, balanced brand workload and appropriate delegation;
  • Determine resource allocations across the brand to optimize overall brand performance, while anticipating risks to brand performance and ensuring that contingency plans are developed to manage through them;
  • Manage and lead multiple external partners (e.g. Agencie for advertising, PR, Medical, etc.) and consultants to produce consumer and professional communication (i.e. copy, media, etc.) strategies and executions in line with the brand strategy;
  • Be key contact and information provider to significant external partners;
  • Manage and lead multiple cross-functional teams (i.e. R&D, Technical Operations, Marketing Research, Sales Strategy, Sales Operations, Consumer Promotions, etc.) to execute brand initiatives and implement plans;
  • Ensure the brand strategy is communicated, understood and implemented by all cross-functional groups;
  • Lead, coordinate, assist and participate in Divisional initiatives outside of "brand" responsibilities (e.g. MBA/intern recruiting, Diversity, new working practices and Bayer training programs) with conduct that motivates colleagues;
  • Model leadership behavior not only for the Brand Management organization, but also for the cross-functional departments as well;
  • Develop and support the strategic brand plans that not only deliver on annual and longer term financial objectives, but also protect brand equity and enhance brand health.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • M.B.A. with at least five years of experience in a consumer packaged goods (CPG)/heathcare environment;
  • Or B.A./B.S. with at least seven years of work experience in a similar role/function ideally with 5 years in a CPG/healthcare environment;
  • Solid financial acumen, seasoned judgment and a good ability to utilize judgment, and solid thinking ability to analyze complex issues and recommend clear direction within the big picture needs of Bayer Consumer Health;
  • Excellent communication skills including being able to speak and present effectively, foster open communication, listening effectively to others and prepare effective written communications;
  • Strong leadership skills and a strong ability to cultivate good relationships/networks and actively fostering team work;
  • Ability to manage the performance and develop the appropriate skills of others, which should include encouraging diversity and motivating and coaching others;
  • Ability to harness diversity for competitive advantage;
  • Understand skills and where assets will add value for the team and the brand;
  • Ability to plan for the short-term and long-term, and manage executions within a strategic framework;
  • Ability to self-manage and self-motivate;
