Where the Chemistry Happens

The position is being created to strengthen the BASF Enzymes Research Team in San Diego. The team is an integral part of BASF’s global Bioscience Research Platform. The team works closely with other research teams, development teams and business units of BASF, inside and outside the US. In addition, the team maintains and supports numerous collaborations with non-BASF partners, incl. universities and other research organizations. The candidate is expected to be part of BASF’s global enzyme R&D team and work specifically on Bacillus expression platform. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is able to work well on his/her own and as part of a multi-disciplinary team

We are searching for a professional like you to play a key role in the planning design and execution of research activities and experiments to accomplish project objectives. You will be relied on to provide knowledge and expertise in achieving research targets, interpreting results, and reporting them to key stakeholders.

  • Leveraging your educational and professional background in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or related discipline, you will conceptualize new projects and programs while setting a research direction that provides innovation and breakthrough advantages for the business.
  • You will use your extensive know-how and hands on experiences to handle general cloning and genetic engineering tasks.
  • Experience with enzyme analytical techniques, including enzyme assay, protein gel electrophoresis or protein quantification.
  • Experience with protein expression and production in Bacillus is preferred
  • Serving as a role model, you will champion a Zero Incident mindset while maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Successfully engaging across and outside the organization, you will interact frequently with colleagues as well as with customers, suppliers, consultants, universities, and government agencies, and play a leadership role in industry conferences and technical societies.
