Research & Proposal Specialist (Any US location OR Virtual)

About the position

Responsible for completing and/or coordinating requests for proposals RFPs and consultant questionnaires which accurately and favorably present the organizations products and services. Typically completes consultant questionnaires independently that may require additional research, analysis, creativity and judgment. Organize, attend and contribute to strategy meetings with Sales, Underwriting and Subject Matter Experts to ensure alignment and responsiveness. Develop proposal content through original writing and adapting boilerplate content. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and team members against strict deadlines. Adhere to high quality standards and department processes.  Has no formal supervisory responsibility and may provide guidance to more junior staff. For US employees, this job is exempt and therefore not eligible for overtime.

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Building relationships with Sales & Account Management partners
  • Communicating and coordinating effectively with other members of Group Insurance to ensure timely completion of all proposal documents
  • Exercising judgment in applying procedures or addressing unusual problem situations
  • Supporting process improvement activities as well as other critical initiatives
  • Assessing issues and coordinating resolution with other members of the organization
  • Identifying and escalating complex issues as appropriate
  • Uses project management skills to ensure all deliverables are completed on time
Qualifications Required experience and skills:
  • Strong knowledge of Group insurance products/Group insurance experience
  • Previous proposal experience
  • Degree in English, Marketing or Journalism or equivalent work experience is preferred
  • Customer focused
  • Knowledge of Outlook, Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Project management experience is a plus
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Team player, creative, organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Flexibility and responsiveness to change
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
