Proposal Manager - Marketing Execution Team

About the position

The Proposal Manager (NAO) would be responsible for managing a team of proposal specialists, performing proposal intake and reviewing proposals to ensure that those are in accordance with our product offering, branding and style guide, as well as grammatically accurate. This leader will guide the team members in researching and crafting non-standard questions and also provide mentoring, coaching and talent development; and may occasionally work on high-complexity RFPs.

The leader’s responsibilities include working with NAO sales, subject matter experts, product team, underwriting, marketing, senior leadership team and the marketing teams to ensure the voice of Prudential is portrayed in the best light. This leader needs to possess the courage and ability to challenge the status quo when appropriate. The candidate should have a background and experience in group insurance products and services and proposal management.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide management and constructive feedback to the RFP Specialists when/if the RFP response is incorrect/incomplete, and detail the corrective action to take.
  • Partner with senior leaders to determine broad client/prospect needs, identify trends, strengths and opportunities, as well as ensure consistency in proposal responses across different market segments.
  • Partner with underwriting, sales, product and marketing to provide product and service consultative guidance in support of how we should position our responses.
  • Complete daily quality reviews; track results and trends, verbally and written, on an individual and management basis against established department standards and RFP Specialist performance objectives.
  • Perform daily intake and assignment of incoming opportunities.
  • Provide leadership and daily management of RFP Specialists, including performance management and talent development.
  • Attend strategy sessions and provide feedback to ensure constructive conversations are being held.
  • Develop and maintain effective partnerships with members of the selling team and various subject matter experts to gain an understanding of their roles and responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates sense of urgency with all projects and flexibility in responding to last-minute changes.
  • Seek to meet and exceed expectations with project deliverables and customer service.
  • Partner and share knowledge with team members of the RFP team.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
  • BA or BS degree, minimum of 5 years of related experienced in sales operations, RFP and/or marketing. A Master's degree would be preferred.
  • Previous management experience.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced team environment, adhering to established time frames and schedules.
  • Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to consistently exceed deliverables in a high volume production environment; must be able to manage workflow and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal, partnering skills and must be detail oriented. Flexible to work in a fast-paced environment with non-negotiable deadlines.
  • Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, resourceful, and able to exercise sound judgment.
  • This associate needs to understand our product offerings and have strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence results and to coach and mentor teammates and provide education to team and business partners.
  • This position will interact with customers (internal) on a daily basis and would have the significant discretion in decision making within those interactions to ensure that we are responding to requests accurately.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced level of proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Experience with PMAPs or Qvidian RFP Product Suites or other RFP development software programs.
