Principal Sr. Network VoIP Engineer

Job Duties

The Principal VoIP network engineer is responsible for design, deployment and operational escalation support for all aspects of Cisco Unified Communications and Collaboration applications and Video Conference (IPVC) infrastructure solutions. In addition, the engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, support and documentation of LAN/WAN networks, with emphasis on VoIP and Video services to ensure optimal performance and maximum uptime. This position is required to participate in the rotational on-call after hours support.
Major Responsibilities/Activities:
Responsible for developing standard operating procedures (SOP's) and train others on the operational support of UCLA HS voce/video systems
Understand IT engineering lifecycle, such as discovery, requirements, architecture, design, build and implementation. Develop procedures and documents in each stage accordingly.
Develop proof of concept lab testing, performs feasibility studies, translate business requirements into technical requirements, performs integration testing and validation, and operational support transitioning
Installation, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, backup, and maintenance of a variety of hardware platforms and operating systems related to UC and Video infrastructure
Initiate and manage corrective action to assure optimal systems performance; coordinate change management activities accordingly.
Mentor junior engineers and provide guidelines pertaining to network implementations. Maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies
Respond to requests for technical information from customers, conduct technical assessment and deliver solutions to meet customer requirements.
Review day-to-day network monitoring and performance reporting systems.
Submit New project requests, provide technical analysis of problems and propose resolutions

Job Qualifications

The following skills, knowledge, and abilities are required:
At least 10 years' experience of enterprise support, architecture and design of Cisco UC and IPVC
Extensive experience with Cisco VoIP and Video platforms required; CUCM, CUxN, Voice Gateways, CUMP/Webex, CER, Feature Servers, Application Servers, Media Servers and Video devices etc.
Hands on experience in VoIP and Video technology protocols. SIP, SS7, RTP, TLS, SCCP, H.323, MGCP, H.264, ISDN, CAS.
Hands on experience with Cisco UCCE/PCCE design, implementation, operation and troubleshooting
Hands on experience with UCCE scripting, and WFM/QM operations
Strong technical understanding and experience with Cisco Contact Center solutions and knowledge of UCCE, PCCE and UCCX
Experience with Cisco B/C serious UCS servers and UCS Manager
Experience with VMWare ESX 5.x and 6.x
Hands on experience with data networking skills required including; IP & Ethernet routing and switching based network design, testing and implementations with in-depth knowledge of the OSI seven layer model and in depth familiarity with industry protocols including IP, MPLS, OSPF, BGP, L3 switching, STP, 802.1Q.
Support systems for network management including a working knowledge of SNMP, Voice technologies and services including VoIP, PBX, PRI, ISDN, ACD, call recording, voicemail, conferencing, and CDRs
Understands switching, routing, QoS and how they affect voice traffic and call quality
CCIE Collaboration certification is preferred
BS in related field or equivalent work experience
