Pharmacy Technician - Prior Authorization and Appeals

Job Description
As a Pharmacy Technician I - Prior Authorization, you will be responsible for supporting the processes involved with entering prior authorizations for CVS Health contracted clients. The Pharmacy Technician is essential to ensuring non-clinical activities and functions are within accordance with policies and procedures under the supervision of the PA Supervisor, PA Manager, and Director of Clinical Operations. The Pharmacy Technician position is responsible for taking in-coming calls from members and providers, providing professional phone assistance to all callers through the criteria based prior authorization process.
As part of the Pharmacy Technician I - Prior Authorization team, you will have an important, uniquely rewarding role putting your Pharmacy Technician skills and experiences to work in a front-end setting. Additional responsibilities of the Pharmacy Technician I - Prior Authorization include:
- Maintain complete, timely, and accurate documentation of all approvals and denials
- Transfer all clinical questions and judgment calls to the pharmacist
- Knowledge of prescription drug products, dosage forms, and usages
- Strong written communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills

Required Qualifications
Current pharmacy technician registration with the Texas Board of Pharmacy license is required
At minimum, 3 months prior pharmacy technician experience

Preferred Qualifications
Call center or member services experience preferred
Candidate must have the ability to deal with a diverse customer base in a friendly and confident manner (internal and external customers)
Excellent communication skills (oral, written, grammar, listening)
PC Windows experience required
Basic math skills required (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
Ability to maintain confidentiality

Verifiable High School diploma or GED is required
