Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. seeks a Paralegal for the Intellectual Property department. Under the direction of the legal department, this position will be responsible for the following:
 
  • Conduct research to determine the availability of distribution rights for various digital platforms for all features, television series and other content in the Warner Bros. asset library. Conduct research relating to enforcement and protection of company intellectual property assets, such and copyrights and trademarks.
  • Advises on clearances and related issues.
  • Analyze legal rights position and claims.
  • Prepare and manage reports related to enforcement matters, draft cease and desist letters and related correspondence.
  • Review, analyze and interpret contracts and data from Warner Bros., TEC, New Line and other libraries to determine rights for clearances.
  • Prepare clearance reports and cost estimates for upgrades.
  • Consult with attorneys to interpret rights and prepare reports.
  • Conduct factual research into third party activity which may infringe company’s IP rights.
  • Use Dialog database, Lexis/Nexis database and various rights databases to conduct research.
  • Prepare drafts of memos and correspondence regarding enforcement actions.

What do we require from you?
  • College degree in related field required.
  • Paralegal certificate preferred.
  • Previous production and/or studio experience preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in contract administration, intellectual property and clearance or licensing.
  • Legal or Paralegal training or experience preferred.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including overtime when, and if, necessary.
