The PVSI team includes Cards and Retail Services (CRS), Deposit Products Group, Innovation, Operations, Treasury Management and Wells Fargo Virtual Channels including the professional services teams that partner with these businesses and other key partners.

Cards and Retails Services (CRS) has a pending co-brand relationship targeted to launch in February 2019 that will fund, issue and service a co-branded credit card product with this partner. Additionally, the acquisition of additional co-brand partnerships and the overall growth in the co-brand space is an important part of the 2018 and future strategic growth in the credit card marketplace.

Our Cards and Retail Services (CRS) Controls and Operational Risk team provides guidance to CRS businesses to support their commitment to comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal operational policies and procedures.

Responsible for Controls & Operational Risk (COR) management functions in support of the CRS Co-Brand program, which includes:

  • Provide operational risk and regulatory compliance oversight and guidance
  • Identify and evaluate business risks
  • Solve for customer and operational issues
  • Implement & ensure adherence to Corporate policies and programs
  • Measure, analyze and report on the environment and
  • Provide and ensure governance routines and readiness

The key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Issues management: Including remediation solution with the LOB, issue maintenance, self-identification and pre-validation prior to moving the corrective action to completed, pending validation
  • Procedure support: Review, provide feedback and approve LOB procedures to ensure procedures are developed in compliance with standards (laws and policies), along with being efficient
  • Change management: Monitor for new/changed regulations, assess applicability with LOB and support implementation
  • Risk assessments: Maintain existing SHRP content, assess (accept/reject) new or changed MRs and associated Controls, complete annual review, assess for downgrades with respect to identified issues
  • Design and develop testing in partnership with Testing Team to evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of procedures, processes, systems and internal controls : Test scope, test scripts, potential issue lists (PILs), compliance activity reports.  Proactively build corrective actions based on root cause and identified issues to successfully remediate issues.
  • Provide project support and consultation in support of change risk and Risk Assessments for New Business Initiatives (RANBI). Engage with Legal and other COR/Corporate partners as needed.
  • Consulting with business to develop corrective action plans and effectively managing change to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Coordinate production of periodic controls and operational risk reports (e.g. KRIs, KPIs) for senior management, including trend analysis and recommended strategies
  • Vendor management: Ability to manage and hold co-brand partners accountable to achieve controls and operational results to ensure product adherence to WFC standards.
  • Strong compliance and operational risk experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively document and communicate views of risk across audiences of all levels
  • Ability to successfully partner with management within Legal, Compliance and other risk areas to provide independent credible analyses and challenge practices and methodologies where necessary
  • Ability to work through business challenges consistently and effectively through collaboration and transparency
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations affecting Credit Cards and Marketing including UDAAP, Reg Z, Reg B, Reg P, third party risk management, info security and other consumer protection regulations
  • Prior experience working in consumer credit card, Retails Service (partnerships focus) and third party oversight.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 10+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both

  • Ability to identify gaps through risk based testing
  • Experience reviewing testing strategies and methodologies; evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, initiatives, products and internal controls; and identifying issues resulting from internal and/or external compliance examinations
