The Payments, Virtual Solutions, and Innovation (PVSI) team includes Operations, Cards and Retail Services, Deposit Products Group, the Innovation Group, Treasury Management, Merchant Services, Payment Solutions, and Wells Fargo Virtual Channels and the professional services teams that partner with these businesses. PVSI's focus is on delivering the next generation of payments and deposit capabilities and advancing our digital and online offerings to design new customer experiences and products. Its guiding principles are to start with the customer, move faster, and partner effectively.

The Cards & Retail Services team helps customers achieve their financial dreams by providing a variety of products across the credit spectrum. We deliver industry-leading rewards, offers and benefits that recognize and celebrate our customers' relationship with Wells Fargo. Our customers all have unique goals and dreams - whether preparing for a home improvement project, shopping for a new sofa or kitchen table or meeting healthcare and dental needs. Others just want a financial tool that allows them to make everyday purchases while earning rewards. Our team works together with groups across the company, including the bankers in our 6,200 banking stores, to provide financing in the form of general-purpose cards, co-branded cards and private-label and industry cards. Our team is 6,700 strong, working in communities across the nation, and focused on doing our very best to help our customers succeed financially.

This team member will have the opportunity to create and manage risk controls and provide operational risk oversight for a new benefit to Debit and Credit Card customers that enables them to earn cash back for spending at select merchants. The My Current Offers program is currently in pilot and will be launched nationally to all Wells Fargo Debit, Prepaid and Credit Card customers in early 2019. This multi-business initiative for PVSI provides the right Operational Risk Consultant with the opportunity to partner & work with the Deposit Product Group, Loyalty Solutions, Credit Card, Virtual Channels, and our technology, risk, compliance & legal teams to deliver, manage and control this competitively differentiated, new value proposition.

With support from the Credit Card Go Far Rewards operational risk, operations and analysis teams, and in partnership with the Debit & CC Loyalty Solutions Program Management teams, the Operational Risk Consultant 4 will be responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring risk-based programs to identify, assess and mitigate any operational risks from the outset of the program and that arise from unidentified, inadequate or failed internal processes, people, systems or external events, while maintaining a balance between risk mitigation, control and operational efficiency.

This position will also analyze business, operational, and/or system changes to determine impact, identify and assess operational risk issues, assign risk ratings consistent with established policy standards, and develop procedures & processes, as well as ongoing solutions for improved performance.

Specifically, this individual will have and provide content and process expertise, lead through influence and drive execution of the following:

  1. Strategy development and implementation: Partner with technology, Third Party Service Provider (TPSP) governance, business lines and risk partners to develop and execute on tasks & issues to not only meet policy and regulatory needs, but also to be proactive, to adopt best practices and to identify and mitigate risk.
  2. Risk Mitigation: Analyze data and understand/mitigate root causes of issues. Leverage systems, processes and applicable policies to identify potential problems and opportunities and implement effective, consistent, and sustainable solutions.
  3. Analysis and Risk Identification: Work with line of business and business risk teams relative to policies and procedures that may be contributing to risks. Develop, review and provide action plans to effectively limit and/or mitigate material risks & simplify complexity.
  4. Data and Reporting: Manage and/or oversee production of operational risk performance reports for senior management, including trend analysis and recommended solutions. Provide insightful analysis and consultation to all stakeholders and leadership. Highlight key risk indicators and factors that contribute to risks and inconsistencies. Report findings and develop business cases to inform and influence senior management regarding required controls that mitigate operational risk.
  5. Facilitate sharing of best practices and communication: Develop relationships across multiple organizations and identify and share best practices and business practices with business partners across servicing and virtual channels. Lead meetings with Servicing Business and Compliance Leaders to discuss program strategies, issues, mitigating controls and cost effective solutions using a risk-based approach.

This individual must be proactive, detail oriented, highly organized, results driven and a creative problem solver able to meet the demands of multiple vendor & internal relationships, operational risk timelines and deliverables.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Design & develop quality assurance strategies, methodologies and analyses
  • Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, systems and internal controls
  • Lead, manage or participate in complex projects from design to implementation stage while influencing project team on scope and requirements
  • Analyze business and/or system issues and impact of potential changes
  • Effectively facilitate change management for processes and procedures
  • Manage a rapidly changing environment and meet critical milestones and commitments under pressure

**Preference for position to be located in one of the posted locations; however, consideration may be given to team members across the Wells Fargo footprint.  **Telecommuting will be considered. 

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 6+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 3+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both

  • Experience with understanding and applying corporate risk tools and systems (e.g. SHRP, C2C, BCP, NBI/RAMBI, Change Control, TRIMS)
  • Strong time management skills and the demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Ability to understand and link processes together to identify gaps and create workable solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and execute complex initiatives/projects successfully, to include ability to identify key stakeholders, meet deadlines and implement solutions
  • Experience analyzing, interpreting and creating Business Requirement Document and/or regular business language documents effectively
  • Ability to analyze metrics and articulate data trends both visually and verbally

Job Expectations

  • This position requires compliance with all mortgage regulatory requirements and Wells Fargo's compliance policies related to these requirements including acceptable background check investigation results.
