The NA Regional IT Director of Digital Products and Solutions leads the North American Digital team across Consumer & Consumer Medical devices and will sit on the Global Digital IT Leadership Team and US Consumer / CMD Technology Leadership Teams (TLT). This role is responsible for shaping and directing the technology product strategy, roadmap, portfolio & Services for digital products and solutions informed by the overall business strategy set out by the Consumer & Consumer Medical devices’s Global/Regional Franchises & NA Marketing organizations, whilst overseeing our digital product leaders in region in the delivery of technology solutions to meet Johnson & Johnson Consumers & Consumer Medical devices digital needs.

They align stakeholders and development teams around common measurable product goals, and engage the business in the Agile product development process. They drive the effectiveness of the Digital product line and drive business value for the North America & our global Franchises. Additionally, this role will maintain strong alignment with the global product lead as well as Platform / Product Line Area Leads.

This role will work closely with all partners across the Digital organization, connecting the IT Digital organization with the NA Global/Regional teams, Total Brand experience, Marketing accelerator, Application Services & Digital IT teams. The ideal candidate is a Marketing Technology thought leader in the digital marketing space, with expertise in a broad range of digital capabilities including web, mobile, DAM, CRM, eCommerce/eRetail, Omnichannel, video, social and SEO marketing, with a proven track record of being able to lead and deliver digital capabilities, collaborate with senior business leaders across multiple groups and across a large portfolio of geographies and functions. 


Major Duties & Responsibilities

Develops and articulates North America & Franchise product portfolio vision, goals, roadmap and business value:

  • Defining the overall Commercial Digital IT vision, strategy and capability roadmap.  Support, develop and deliver against the Digital IT capability roadmap
  • Align the End-to-End process roadmap with the Strategic Vision working with the Regional & Global Product Owners
  • Define operating intents for NA regional aligned to overall sector strategic intents
  • Prioritizes and aligns with business and JJT stakeholders
  • Cultivates external relationships to Stay abreast of external trends and leading practices occurring in the marketplace to inform strategic direction
  • Translates insights into the unmet needs of our customers, Markets and channel these into clear digital Products and Solutions.
  • Develops core competencies in managing the life cycle of technologies and solutions for Digital and the strategic directions of IT to meet Commercial business objectives in the short and long term. 
  • Identifies new IT capabilities to enable effective and efficient Commercial processes by continuously exploring the external marketplace for technologies, ideas and practices.  

Prioritize & Secure Funding for digital Investment Opportunities

  • Activates Regional & Global portfolio management and governance framework that optimizes and scales IT investments.  Manages the structures that distribute the rights and responsibilities among different actors in the digital ecosystem including the modeling, setting and administration of the policies, procedures and processes for demand in-take and prioritization.
  • Manages and owns NA & global Digital portfolio and end-to-end project management of projects (using the PMx framework) of all sizes in partnership with other IT support groups (Digital PLO, PMO, TS, etc.).
  • Achieve business alignment and gain approval for strategic direction and investment alignment
  • Approve key decisions related to process improvements (portfolio management), process roadmap, and process health
  • Resolve conflicts in alignment between short-term and long-term vision as well as process and operational goals (e.g., management decisions, resource allocation)
  • Manages project plans, timescales, departmental finances, capital planning, costing of digital services, reporting and execution of project / support initiatives

Drive Process Improvements

  • Champion and gain support for continuous process improvement efforts driven by new business demands or cost efficiency / effectiveness needs.
  • Drive, implement and maintain governance processes that are needed to meet digital business outcomes.
  • Understand and deploys business model and process mapping techniques to identify critical key IT capabilities. (e.g. Rapid Value Realization)

Promote Business Outcome Oriented Culture

  • Owns IT digital design and execution to support new business model development for markets in scope.
  • Act as a key stakeholder to foster a culture which monitors and meets the needs of the business through process excellence and improvement
  • Designs and delivers flexible and scalable Digital IT solutions that fulfill business needs while maximizing reuse of applications and infrastructure and supporting the Enterprise IT Operating Model. Coordinates the planning, management, and execution of all Digital IT-related initiatives, including business case development, architecture and support.
  • Leads the implementation of design principles across the Digital IT group, and the design execution of digital commercial capabilities.
  • Build and maintain relationships at all levels throughout the organization
  • Collaborate with peers and stakeholders to ensure end-to-end processes are aligned and support each other
  • Drive process policy setting working with peers in functional and Business leadership where necessary


  • Owns talent acquisition, performance and development across the NA Digital team.
  • Provides trusted Digital technology expertise, and attracts, develops and retains a pipeline of highly engaged, superior internal and externally sourced IT talent.
  • Develop talent that can lead the successful delivery of modern approaches to omnichannel capabilities and create a source of competitive advantage of J&J

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Architecture, User Experience Design, or Computer Science, or similar field is required.  A Master’s Degree or MBA is preferred.
  • 10 years of relevant experience
  • 10+ years leading product development of digital capabilities and delivering large scale, high-availability and high-performance digital applications, for large companies, is required.
  • Strong leadership, effective manager of people and strong team-building skills are required.
  • Solutions-oriented expertise in implementation of modern Digital Marketing platforms that transform consumer experience including Content Management, Customer Account Management, Marketing/CRM/PM, and eCommerce is required
  • Proven track record of delivering multiple large, complex projects that meet with business requirements to schedule and budget
  • Proven track record of defining and managing business process change across multiple digital delivery organizations
  • Deep understanding of the end-to-end Marketing technology stack, including hosting, networking, virtual infrastructure, monitoring, web servers, caching, database, CMS, front-end, microservices, and front-end frameworks is required
  • Deep understanding of industry best in clast Digital software vendors and partners
  • Extensive knowledge of managing digital platforms and the setup and management of teams which deploy on these platforms is required
  • Strong experience with SDLC methodology and quality assurance processes
  • Prior experience in online marketing and/or advertising as well as user experience design is required
  • Understanding of issues covering site architecture, user-interface and navigation along with familiarity with software quality assurance processes is required
  • Experience working in a consumer healthcare, marketing, agency or media organization is required
  • Experience in Agile methodology  Test-Driven Development, QA automation, and DevOps processes is preferred
  • Impeccable business partnering and collaboration skills in working with delivery teams, business partners, agencies and stakeholders is required
  • Strong problem-solving skills; responsive and flexible to evolving responsibilities and changing environment
  • An ability to analyze and understand data and trends and advise process improvement plans to address opportunity areas identified. Evidence of a clear Strategic approach to problem solving and driving an organization forward
  • IT Commercial experience in digitally-intensive industries or digitally advanced enterprises is preferred.  Ideally, has working knowledge of the CMD Consumer Medical Device/Vision Care business (both client and supplier), the information that drives it, and the digital approaches that are appropriate are preferred.
  • Understanding of the Drupal and/or the technology stack is a preferred
  • Strong Commercial (e.g Sales, Marketing, CCC) domain expertise with experiences designing, developing and supporting commercial programs related to Strategic Marketing, Sales, eCommerce and Professional Engagement is preferred.  
  • Demonstrated strength in examining issues, shaping strategy and influencing effectively across the organization, driving people, process and technology change are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve organizational performance through the application of original thinking to existing and emerging methods, processes, products and services is preferred.  Employs sound judgment in determining how innovations will be deployed to produce a value outcome.   
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), including the ability to explain digital concepts and technologies to business leaders, as well as business concepts to technologists are required.
  • Demonstrated strength in partnering with internal/external contacts (agencies, marketers, IT vendors) globally to generate mutually beneficial, long-term opportunities and negotiating win-win outcomes are required
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a large matrxied team across business and technical areas is required.  Ability to succeed in a matrixed environment and influence adoption of new thinking are required.
  • Experience leading multiple high-profile projects with demanding deadlines, changing requirements, and working with limited resources is required.  Ability to estimate required effort for project objectives and prioritize work items appropriately is required.
