Media and Campaigns Coordinator


Reporting to the Policy and Communications Director, the Media and Campaigns Coordinator is responsible for conducting outreach to promote MADRE’s program areas, policy positions and country strategies; for building relationships with key media and movement allies; for implementing campaigns that mobilize audiences to take action; and for creating content for our media outreach and campaigns. A successful candidate will have strong writing ability and project management skills, and experience with media outreach and campaign coordination.


Primary roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Creating, updating and implementing outreach plans to engage target audiences (through media, website and social media outreach)
  • Anchoring MADRE media strategy, to build relationships with media allies, pitch stories that promote our work and coordinate media campaigns to uplift our messaging and policy demands
  • Assisting with creation of core messaging on MADRE's projects and initiatives, and ensuring consistency across platforms
  • Helping to build and coordinate relationships with allied organizations for shared campaigns
  • Maintaining, drafting, and regularly updating content that promotes the organization, our campaigns and our projects
  • Tracking online engagement analytics and carrying out strategies to expand visibility
  • Support creation and implementation of online campaigns for website, publications, campaigns, and events
  • Integrating multimedia materials into website and other outreach
  • Securing and coordinating speaking engagements for MADRE staff around key campaign priorities
  • Managing and posting content to MADRE’s social networks, including Twitter, Facebook and Instagram
  • Designing and editing basic graphics and video, and coordinating with external consultants for more advanced projects


Key Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 2 years of communications experience
  • Strong project management and organizational skills; ability to manage many distinct areas of work at once
  • Strong research, writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Ability to message complex issues creatively and clearly
  • Experience with media outreach and online campaigns
  • Commitment to women’s rights and progressive social change, and knowledge of the focus areas and regions in which MADRE works
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure with competing priorities and deadlines
  • Desired skills: Spanish and/or French fluency
