The Operational Controls Group (OCG) serves as the First Line of Defense and supports Marketing's mission to become a world-class organization by assisting in establishing and strengthening operational controls, enhancing the controls culture, and ensuring Marketing's activities do not create regulatory, operational, or reputational risk for Wells Fargo.

This position will serve as an OCG risk consultant supporting the Marketing Centers of Excellence (COEs) responsible for executing marketing campaigns. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of operational risk management and be able to recommend opportunities to advance our risk management practices and strengthen our control environment. Primary responsibilities will include identifying risks associated with key business processes, evaluating the adequacy of controls and recommending risk mitigation strategies. In addition, the ability to develop relationships and learn new processes will be key to success in this role.

Specific Responsibilities Include: 

  • Completing process inventories and associated risk ratings to support prioritization of go forward control initiatives
  • Facilitating process, risk and control self-assessments to identify control deficiencies
  • Leading control development initiatives to help drive to Common/Holistic Marketing processes and overall process enhancements
  • Working cross-functionally with Marketing partners to identify issues, propose solutions, and drive strategic objectives
  • Managing oversight of issues and corrective actions to ensure control deficiencies are effectively resolved
  • Preparing and reviewing materials in response to Marketing related audits and reviews
  • Supporting control development through consultation and support of Marketing projects and initiatives
  • Supporting development of procedures to comply with Corporate and/or Marketing policies
  • Identifying risk exposure based on emerging risks and changes in business processes
  • Aggregating risk information and communicating the risk profile for the COEs

Location: Open to any location in the Wells Fargo footprint.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: project management, implementation, or strategic planning

Other Desired Qualifications
  • 6+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: risk management, audit, project management, implementation, operational risk, or strategic planning
  • At least 2 years of experience in risk management and/or audit
  • Experience in identifying key risks, evaluating controls and consulting to remediate control deficiencies
  • Experience performing process, risk and control assessments
  • Experience managing SHRP issues and corrective actions
  • Experience with Business Process Risk Management (BPRM)
  • Experience in internal audit or risk management
  • Ability to build consensus through strategic vision and outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with all levels of management
  • Ability to work independently in a virtual team environment where other team members, team management, and business partners are not always local
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment
  • Ability to identify and evaluate trends, isolate root cause, and provide swift/thorough resolution
  • Ability to take on a high level of responsibility, initiative, and accountability
