Managing Director, Prudential Client Management

About the position

The Managing Director, Prudential Client Management is a senior individual contributor role who will report to the Senior Managing Director of PCM. The Managing Director, PCM will lead relationships on behalf of all of Prudential US businesses, with C-suite level executives of some of the largest financial partners who distribute Prudential’s products or provide products and services to Prudential’s US businesses (together the assigned Partner Portfolio). The Managing Director, PCM will work with his or her assigned Partner Portfolio, leaders of Prudential US businesses and their teams, and other PCM Principals, to identify specific business opportunities for Prudential to further grow its relationships with those Partners and their clients, and identify broader market trends observed. The Managing Director, PCM will also work to resolve any servicing or relationship issues with his or her counterparty at the specific Partner, as may from time to time be required. The Managing Director, PCM will conduct at least one face to face annual senior executive meeting with each assigned Partner, where a named senior executive Prudential sponsor and the named senior executive at the Partner, attend, to discuss current services and proposed business opportunities. The role also involves full knowledge of, gathering, understanding, summarizing and analyzing current Prudential services transacted with the specific Partner, including AUM and revenue from these services, in preparation for meetings and discussions. The ERBP will also ensure at least one annual cross-business, cross-firm planning session occurs and, arrange and plan ongoing monthly working calls/meetings to ensure progress of identified business opportunities and interest.     Scope of responsibilities:
  • Become trusted business partner to Partner Portfolio
  • Personally possess deep and detailed understanding of Partner Portfolio business priorities in the spaces where Prudential operates, which includes: Retirement (Defined Benefit (DB)/Defined Contribution (DC) priorities and opportunities), Investment (as appropriate, DB/DC OCIO platforms, manager research functions, private wealth platforms, etc) and Insurance (including individual life insurance and annuity platforms and distribution, and, in the Group space, as appropriate, understanding Partner Portfolio business strategies)
  • Synthesize information into executive corporate summaries and working with US business unit leadership, develop key business priorities for each assigned Partner
  • Have strong working knowledge of each US business unit’s current business, distribution, products and markets (includes Retirement, PGIM, Group Insurance, Annuities and ILI) and an understanding of each business unit’s current and emerging business priorities and capabilities
  • Have strong working knowledge of, and ability to articulate in an executive manner Prudential’s overall business strategy
  • Work collaboratively across PCM and the entire Prudential organization
  • As a senior contributor, participate in leadership of PCM, as needed, and
  • Contribute to thought leadership and collateral material development and execution
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 20 years of work experience in financial services
  • Bachelor’s degree required. MBA or relevant designation preferred (e.g., CFA, FSA, etc.)
  • Senior executive level oral and written communication skills, and ability to convey message with executive presence necessary of a board-level presentation
  • Ability to think strategically and analytically and connect a variety of internal and external inputs into an actionable direction and recommendation
  • Ability to interact collaboratively and efficiently with professionals at all levels and functions, including senior management and business sales professionals
  • Possess working knowledge of individual life insurance and annuities products and distribution
  • Possess working knowledge of pension program dynamics (DB and DC) income and/or investment strategies
  • Possess working knowledge of current and emerging pension de-risking strategies (investment and settlement)
