Manager, Media Strategy Planning & Innovation

The Manager, Media Strategy Planning & Innovation, will report to the Director, Franchise Development & Digital Activation within the US Connected Commerce (aka “eCommerce”) Customer Development team.  This person will be responsible for all Connected Commerce Digital Search strategy and activation for the US Consumer Businesses.

 

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to lead brands strategically and tactically in search and ecommerce marketing. He/she will lead in the conception and delivery of innovative, business-building search and ecommerce marketing solutions, marketing via Amazon, Triad, and other ecommerce channels, and via the connection of Shopper Marketing and Media with omni-channel retailers, while continuing to stay on top of evolving trends in Search and Advanced Analytics.  This role will help facilitate working models/relationships with agency and external Media partners to ensure best in class planning, execution, and value creation for J&J brands.  


Overall Responsibilities
  • Lead Amazon Paid Search (AMS) and Amazon Media Strategy in the U.S., responsible for generating consumer demand on Amazon for the J&J Consumer portfolio
  • Partner with TBx Connected Commerce & Search Lead to implement Global Amazon Media and Search strategic guidelines within the U.S., while helping to shape future best practices based on regional success
  • Own SHOP Media Planning and Connections process
 

eCommerce Search Responsibilities

  • Own relationship with external agency and customer Paid Search teams across GBUs, managing the overall Amazon search investment, strategy, optimization, KPI prioritization and measurement
  • Ensure alignment between Connected Commerce Sales and Marketing goals, providing strategic direction to agency and 3rd Party Seller marketing teams
  • Manage monthly brand/franchise connections between external agencies and internal marketing teams as part of the SHOP planning process
  • Manage keyword selection for 1P vs. 3P in partnership with agency search and 3rd Party Seller marketing teams, while preventing overlapping keyword investments and self-competition
  • Adhere to Global Search guidelines in partnership with TBx while socializing regional success stories to shape future global best practices
  • Establish annual Learning Agenda and execute test/learns to enhance AMS execution
  • Partner with eCommerce, Digital Enabling and agency SEO teams to align SEM and SEO approaches while identifying needed keywords to include in content optimizations
  • Own integration of J&J insights & data into agency/3rd Party Sellers search planning & optimization, determining innovative measurement solutions given current AMS measurement limitations
  • Coordinate relationship between agency/3rd Party Seller Marketing teams with Connected Commerce Sales, coordinating prioritization of keywords and ASIN assortment based on integrated Sales and Marketing objectives
  • Manage ASIN assortment within AMS in partnership with Connected Commerce Sales team, identifying new ASINs for AMS support when profitability issues surface
    Media Strategy
  • Manage SHOP Media & Search Connections & Planning process, coordinating monthly touchpoints between agency and Marketing
  • Lead optimization of the Amazon media mix given business needs, identifying optimal budgets reallocations between Amazon marketing vehicles to maximize Amazon business results
  • Drive Media Planning for Innovation initiatives across AMG and AMS in the U.S., testing new technologies, media executions and marketing partners to accelerate business growth
  • Partner with GSI&A to tactically understand learnings from MTA, Marketing Mix Models and new research


Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in marketing, sales, shopper marketing or related commercial experience is required
  • A background in eCommerce media and Amazon is highly preferred
  • 3 years of demonstrated experience influencing cross-functional partners and upper management to impact decision-making highly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to convert data and insights into action preferred
  • Subject matter expertise in connections planning & the eCommerce landscape required
  • Subject matter expertise in search, both SEO and SEM required
  • Service mindset to most senior business stakeholders
  • Clear communication skills
  • Ability to think analytically to understand complex or ambiguous problems or issues and articulate solutions/conclusions clearly and concisely
