What is Spectrum Networks: Spectrum Networks is a series of 27 hyper-local news and 9 regional sports networks owned and operated by Charter Communications, Inc. Spectrum Networks seeks to provide the most essential local news and information, cultivating relevant and thoughtful conversations that foster informed and engaged communities.

The Spectrum News Environment: Spectrum News is a 24-hour news network that requires employees be flexible and available to work various shifts throughout the day, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends and holidays. The network is currently focused on the morning news, which means your day will start in the middle of the night, but it also means your workday will end around noon (most days).

What we’re looking for a Manager, Creative Services to supervise and lead a team of graphic artists/designers through all the facets of production. This individual manages multiple requests through all the phases of production and delivery. Works with News and Sales to make sure all requests and deadlines are met. Additionally, works closely with Marketing, Creative Services, News and Graphics Departments to determine needs for promotions and program productions. Major responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Design & animate various projects as well as delegate and approve projects.
  • Supervises and leads creative artists through this process in several markets across the footprint
  • Trains, mentors staff and participates in review of staff for performance management
  • Liaison to creative personnel across assigned region
  • Works with Media Sales to make sure all sales elements are produced within the guidelines created by editorial
  • Researches and acquires video, direct VO sessions, chooses music and incorporates graphic elements in their work and provides innovative suggestions to others
  • Product ordering and distribution and sponsorships
  • Produces various graphic elements for news production (working with graphic dept.) and provides promo placement on logs
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Strong design and animation skills
  • Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator & After Effects
  • Knowledge of Premiere Pro and Cinema 4d, Chyron a plus
  • Exceptional organizational and multi-project management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to shoot and direct is a plus Knowledge of legal restrictions when working with news content
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Must be able and willing to work different shifts and be flexible with schedule changes
  • Must have a passion for advertising and news in general
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to manage the production of multiple promos and print needs simultaneously

Education & Experience:
High School diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Marketing, English or related field preferred; 5+ years Television news or production experience; 2+ years management experience.

  • Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time
  • Overtime may be required to meet deadlines
  • Varying schedule as a result of changing production, breaking news and/or daily news coverage requirements
  • Dexterity of hands, fingers to operate computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other compute components
  • Provide 24x7, 365 days per year, on-call support. May entail phone or physical presence at the facility for equipment failure or other disasters. This includes, but is not limited to equipment and power failures, loss of contracted services, storms or severe weather, and loss of staff members
  • Participate in an established on-call rotation
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at varying distances
