Lead Transmission Validation Engineer - GPS0003348

Transmission System Validation is a function where the transmission system design is tested to meet or exceed reliability targets. In this role, engineers are able to apply a wide range of engineering skills (statics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, control theory, electro-mechanical, metallurgy, statistics – all aspects of base engineering training) and work at both a component and full powertrain level (engine/transmission). Engineers also work with functional interfaces to the vehicle system as it impacts transmission performance and durability.   Responsibilities:
  • Execute required testing to demonstrate transmission system durability
  • Interface with the TVE to provide information to facilitate pallet builds
  • Identify and help remove roadblocks inhibiting testing
  • Track unique transmission content that is being tested
  • Troubleshoot powertrain system level issues
  • Setup and ensure test schedule meets reliability targets
  • Inspect hardware at end of test and complete EOT report
  • Lead root cause and resolution of concerns identified during system testing working with component and vehicle system engineers
  • Interface with DRE’s, calibrators and other functions including JV’s as needed.

 Requirements:

  • BSE, BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills
  • Willing to work off hours to communicate with global engineering community
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Someone who challenges themselves and their peers
  • Enthusiasm to apply physics and math concepts and the ability to put them into real applications
  • Ability to think outside the box and challenge current processes
  • Ambition to get things done and overcome obstacles
  • Ability to communicate across functions
  • High level of analytical problem solving skills where problems are very unusual and extremely difficult
 Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Powertrain system development and/or testing experience
  • Familiarity with dyno testing and control
  • Calibration (transmission or engine) knowledge
  • ETAS Inca experience
  • DFSS Black Belt Certification and Red-X experience
  • Advanced degree
