Proud to be an equal opportunity employer.   Description: The J&J Design is recruiting for an Interaction Design Lead. This role is located in New York, NY and may require travel up to 25%.   Interaction Design Leads are critical to the outcome of our work through the practice of identifying opportunities, evaluating experiences, creating prototypes, executing detailed designs and guiding projects so that experiences work flawlessly, all while challenging the team to think beyond what’s expected.   Interaction Design Leads contribute to all parts of the process on design projects with the aim to engage and delight people. The role will make impact at many potential touch points such as a corporate website, software application, mobile app or consumer electronics device, as well as emerging platforms and technologies including AR, VR and MR. Interaction Design Leads are able to create elegant solutions that answer business needs and the emotional desires of customers and patients alike.   We are looking for fearless, independent and boundlessly creative people with a high level of purpose who are fun to work with and relentlessly focused on quality output in all forms. You will contribute to the organization in the following ways:   PRACTICE
  • Ask the right questions, uncover peoples’ needs through research, perform audits, develop deep insights, generate prototypes, inform measurements plans, and craft how people interact with complex products and systems.
  • Definition digital experiences on projects based on viability, feasibility, and desirability considerations.
  • Articulate how digital products enhance the experience and fit within the context of an overall ecosystem.
  • Translate insights and feedback into clear deliverables, plan, prioritize, coordinate and see work through to implementation.
  • Act as an example for others to follow by creating high-quality deliverables that meet and exceed industry standards.
  • Review the output of other designers on the team to ensure quality of design work.
  • Explain, discuss, and justify recommended design decisions effectively to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Build positive relationship with people on interdisciplinary teams that includes designers, project management, business and brand.
  • Respond positively and calmly to shifting priorities, opinions, demands and timelines with management guidance.
  • Work closely with development teams to ensure that design specifications are implemented.
  • Collaborate with diverse teams and contribute to products that change the way our partners do business.
  • View projects as opportunities to use our work to make a difference in people’s lives.
  • Engage in ongoing activities that enable us to learn, practice, and evolve our discipline.
  • Embrace challenges and inspiring new ways of thinking as we shape the user experience design practice within the J&J Design.

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred in user experience, or related field.
  • 6+ years of professional digital experience design experience.
  • Strong knowledge of user experience design processes and methodology, particularly as applied to Web and digital-based applications and consumer electronics including Agile and lean user-experience processes.
  • A compelling portfolio of work demonstrating high-quality experience design within a variety of projects.
  • A strong understanding of current design trends, best-practices, processes, and theories.
  • A strong understanding of usability and accessibility practices.
  • Knowledge of the capabilities and limitations of digital technologies such as HTML, JavaScript and CSS, and an understanding of the technical implications of your design recommendations.
  • A passion for creating products that resonate emotionally with people.
  • A combination of strong conceptual thinking and strategic skills with an ability to understand customer needs, motivations and behaviors and translate them into actionable deliverables.
  • Willingness to function as a project leader as well as an individual contributor.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Experience working collaboratively with all levels of on a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Expertise with design and prototyping tools such as Adobe CS, Axure, InVision, Sketch, FramerJS, and a willingness to explore new tools.
