HIA Pharma/Life Sciences R&D Director

A career in our Innovation and Development practice, within Data and Analytics Technology services, will provide you with the opportunity to help organisations uncover enterprise insights and drive business results using smarter data analytics. You’ll make impactful decisions by mixing mind and machine to leverage data, understand and navigate risk, and help our clients gain a competitive edge. Our team helps organisations define paths to more profitable growth, from core product development to radical business innovation. As part of the team, you’ll help our clients develop new innovative businesses, products and services as well as build lasting internal capabilities, ranging from Innovation Incubators to global research and development centres to product lifecycle systems, that enable sustained, consistent results.

Responsibilities

As a Director, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, helping our clients solve their complex business issues from strategy to execution. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Proactively lead the practise by setting strategy, drive the development of new business in the market, and provide technical advice across disciplines
  • Building strong networks within the firm to spot and capitalise on opportunities to get involved in projects that others are leading across a number of different business units and sectors
  • Identifying and discussing key issues with our clients to identify potential opportunities
  • Responsibility for a majority of day to day client communications
  • Responsibility to shape and deliver various projects that exceed the expectations of our clients and our own assignment quality criteria
  • Manage and deliver large projects by developing the project team, assessing engagement risks throughout, driving conclusions, and reviewing / challenging the output produced by the team
  • Responsibility for management of engagement financials
  • Helping to grow and develop our team through hands on training and coaching

Minimum Degree Required:
Bachelor Degree

Required Fields of Study:
Biochemistry, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Cell Biology, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Health/Engineering, Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, Medicine/Health

Additional Educational Requirements:
Other Life Sciences-related fields of study may be considered

Master of Business Administration

Preferred Knowledge/Skills:
Demonstrates proven success in roles and expertise involving Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences R&D, preferably obtained through one or more of the following:
- Academic scientific research;
- Direct work within the industry (e.g. pharmaceuticals, biopharmaceuticals, biotechnology, generics, medical device, instrumentation, and diagnostic companies);
- Contract service organizations to the industry (e.g. CRO);
- Regulatory health authorities / agencies overseeing the industry (e.g. FDA);
- Non-profit organizations supporting life sciences scientific advancement;
- Government agencies supporting life sciences scientific advancement (e.g. NSF, CDC);
- Analyst / research / benchmarking companies covering the industry (e.g. CMR/KMR);
- Consulting companies delivering to the industry; and,
- Organizations representing the industry (e.g. PhRMA).

Demonstrated extensive experience in one or more of the following Pharma / Life Sciences R&D Functional areas:
- Research;
- Preclinical;
- Clinical;
- Safety;
- Regulatory;
- CMC Process R&D;
- CMC Pharmaceutical / Formulation R&D;
- R&D Business Management;
- R&D Business Operations;
- R&D Project Management;
- R&D Portfolio Management;
- R&D Resource Management;
- R&D Finance; and,
- R&D Partner / Alliance Management.
