Wealth Management

Wealth Management (WM) administers $530 billion in client assets, including brokerage services (available through Wells Fargo Advisors) and deposits. WM provides affluent and high-net-worth clients with a complete range of wealth solutions that include financial planning, private banking, credit, investment management, trust and estate services, business succession planning, and charitable services along with brokerage services available through Wells Fargo Advisors. WM’s mission is to build enduring relationships on a foundation of sound, thoughtful, and objective advice.

Private Banking

Private Banking supports the credit and cash management needs of clients by providing customized banking solutions within the context of a financial plan.  Private Bankers work with clients in a consultative, team-based approach to support a wide range of banking services to meet the needs of clients served by The Private Bank.  Private Banking portfolio balances included $51 billion in loans and $52 billion in deposits as of year-end 2017.  Private Banking teams are located in The Private Bank offices in all major markets across seven regions.  The business also plans to form a National Private Banking (NPB) team in 2018 that will serve clients of The Private Bank with less complex banking needs. National Private Banking clients will generally have relationship balances that fall in a range between $1 million and $5 million, with a concentration of relationships with up to $2.5 million in balances.

The Position

Responsible for originating and executing middle market sales and divestitures of private market business entities, and partnering with The Private Bank to deliver a “One Wells Fargo”  experience to business owners.  This role will lead a team of 21 professionals and will engage with key internal partners to include Wells Fargo Securities, Wells Fargo Advisors, and the Business Bank. The leader will also be responsible for influencing and/or developing and implementing strategic business plans regarding business valuation for sales comparisons, gift or estate tax purposes; evaluation of options and risks that may come with selling a business and planning for effective exit strategies; monitoring and reviewing closely held business interests in fiduciary accounts to maximize value and financial performance. This position will report to Jim Hays, Head of Wealth Brokerage Services.

Duties include:

Creating and overseeing budget and expense control, including financial analysis reporting; providing leadership to a team of leaders who work with other business groups in the administration of accounts and the management of relationships;

Has direct accountability and responsibility for a sales force within the footprint.  Lead team of merger and acquisition (M&A) bankers across Wealth Management US regions.  This role will both lead the group and execute transactions.

Ensuring satisfactory audits and service standards; providing compliance and legal oversight with various business groups on problematic accounts;

Acting as a fiduciary resource for the business unit to answer questions, review documents, negotiate fees, and approve discretionary distributions; recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training and developing staff members.

Locations: San Francisco, CA, Los Angeles, St. Louis or New York City preferred. Charlotte, NC, Minneapolis, MN or any Wealth Mgmt Hub location will be considered dependent on the candidate selected.

 



Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of management experience





Other Desired Qualifications
  • MBA in finance.
  • Demonstrated success in new business development, expertise in client origination and/or marketing.
  • Experience in engaging, developing and leading teams, both direct and through matrix partnerships
  • Provides strategic thought leadership along with agile and effective change leadership
  • Superb collaboration skills across multiple levels and function, including collaboration across groups within WFC
  • Active in community service campaigns, community non-profit organizations and/or Wells Fargo team member networks

Other Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ experience in comprehensive financial and/or estate planning in the wealth management arena.
  • 10+ years of investment banking experience, including demonstrated leadership and senior level investment banking industry experience 
  • Significant experience in sell-side M&A origination and execution for private companies
