Position Summary:EY has a powerful purpose: to build a better working world. EY’s Global PR and Social Media team plays a critical role in helping the firm realize this purpose through its work supporting EY’s brand, reputation and business goals around the world. This role supports the Technology, Media & Entertainment and Telecoms (TMT) sector cluster and is part of the EY Global Media Relations and Social Media team largely based between London and NY. The primary goal for the assistant director is to position EY as a leading, industry voice across the TMT sectors, but not limited to these. This will include creating a high profile for TMT leaders in the media and in social media, and as well as positioning research, reports and other thought leadership. As part of this, the individual will plan, develop and implement comprehensive communications plans and programs in support of TMT’s business and reputational goals. The Assistant Director will also work directly with EY’s global PR network to ensure all TMT sector PR initiatives secure media coverage in their key markets and countries. As the media advisor to the TMT sectors, the individual will have knowledge of the sectors, expertise in all of the elements in the PR mix, experience managing social media channels, an ability to manage stakeholders and work well within a globally dispersed across multiple time zones. The ideal candidate is a dynamic self-starter and strong writer that has a track record in building and maintaining strong relationships with senior stakeholders. S/he also has the intellectual rigor to work with complex and, sometimes, technical subject matter to create compelling and headline-grabbing media stories that work across the world. The ideal candidate is an experienced, organized, proactive, energetic, detail-oriented professional who enjoys a mix of strategic planning and practical execution. Essential Functions of the Job:
  • Work in collaboration with the TMT global leadership and Brand, Marketing and Communications (BMC) colleagues to create compelling and measurable PR and social media initiatives
  • Act as proactive media advisor and develop strong relationship with TMT stakeholders to ultimately be considered a valued extended member of the business team
  • Bring fresh ideas and thinking to the team; remain current on PR and social media trends and embed in TMT PR strategy and execution
  • Position TMT leadership as experts on key industry issues and hot topics by placing op-eds/comment pieces, pitching reports and maintaining strong and active social media profiles
  • Communicate clearly and effectively across all deliverables, including stakeholder communications and measurement and status reports
  • Plan effectively to create a compelling PR calendar of activities for TMT and track features across all relevant media
  • Prepare press releases, media briefing materials, plans and reports as needed for launches of global surveys, studies and campaigns
  • Work across time zones and communicate regularly with the EY global PR network, informing them of appropriate initiatives and briefing them where appropriate
  • Direct and manage PR agencies as needed
  • Continually act as an ambassador for BMC across all internal and external engagements
Knowledge, Competency and Skill Requirements:
  • Deep understanding and proven experience leading/executing PR across the TMT industries
  • Strong knowledge and natural curiosity in trends and business issues across the TMT sectors as well as PR and social media
  • Solid experience in advising, managing and communicating with senior leadership on a day-to-day basis
  • A self-starter with a hands-on approach, able to juggle multiple projects with competing priorities; a positive attitude and ability to generate results; demonstrate the potential to develop within the organization and PR team
  • A strong team player and lateral thinker, comfortable working collaboratively, virtually and independently
  • Ability to maintain and develop media relationships and ideally existing contacts with CNBC, Bloomberg, CNN, Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Reuters, Dow Jones
  • Understanding and experience of social media use in a B2B environment
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Experience in delivering quality output while working under pressure and appreciation for deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communications and networking skills across a wide range of situations and with people at all levels within the organization, including global, senior leadership

  • Global travel will be required pending business needs.

Experience Requirements:
  • Considerable experience in B2B PR and communications – in-house and/or agency
  • Good understanding and experience of the business, market and regulatory issues facing the TMT sector
  • Professional services experience preferred but not essential
  • Proven ability to manage complex processes and/or projects at a global level
  • Outstanding written and oral communications
  • Strong digital and social media execution skills
  • Experience managing internal support networks
