This newly created media relations and social media role will play a critical part in helping EY raise its brand and support its business goals in the emerging solutions, client technology and innovation areas. This media relations and social media role will support a number of high profile and emerging business areas including: EY Solutions (alternative business models, global managed services, data agenda); the incoming Chief Client Technology Officer and related issues; and Global Innovation including the Chief Innovation Officer and key leadership/issues. The ideal candidate will have the gravitas and strong communications skills to counsel various senior leaders it directly supports. Additionally, the individual will be proactive, dynamic, high energy and be a strong multi-tasker who can manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. The individual can adapt her/his style to manage stakeholders and clients comfortably. S/he will also have a creative and strategic mind that can manage through ambiguity, is comfortable working outside traditional PR practices and can create new, breakthrough opportunities with an ability to execute flawlessly. This role will collaborate with colleagues around the organization including the senior executives/business leaders, BMC leadership and the global PR network and this individual will be equally comfortable communication in person or develop a network of contacts remotely. Success in this role will be defined by creating and executing creative, integrated campaigns and initiatives that break through and increase EY’s share of voice year-on-year. The ability to multi-task and successfully satisfy competing demands high performing stakeholders in a fast-paced environment. Essential Functions of the Job:
  • Strong presence, presentation and communication skills with senior leaders and people of all levels and management styles
  • A creative yet strategic thinker with an ability to capitalize on industry and technology trends, delivering break through ideas that lead to earned media but also cut through on social media
  • Experience positioning global executives as experts on business issues and hot topics by proactively identifying opportunities for comment, writing op-eds/by-lined articles and pitching reports
  • Experience creating social media campaigns that tie into broader PR, marketing and/or brand initiatives
  • Ability to lead the creation of all related messaging, announcements, pitches, reports, briefing documents and other materials as needed.
  • Skilled at building a network of key, relevant journalist, influencers and others for a regular contact program that generates results
  • Organized, strategic thinker who can also work on a practical level and develop a strong PR calendar and track features in relevant media
  • Ability to secure speaking engagements at valued international conferences throughout the year – and prepare all required briefings and speeches in relation to these.
  • Develop position to form part of the senior leadership of the global PR team, supporting EY Global with its overall brand building and reputational goals.
Knowledge, Competency and Skill Requirements:
  • Strong experience in managing and advising senior leadership on a day-to-day basis
  • A creative, motivated PR professional
  • Ability to guide clients in building effective media programs and engaging with the international media
  • A self-starter with a “can do” attitude and the drive and enthusiasm to work through ambiguity and a matrix structure; demonstrate the potential to develop within the organization
  • An experienced writer as the role will involve developing articles and case studies to support PR launches
  • A thorough understanding of print, broadcast and social media relations; strong media relationship development experience
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity, as this role will involve daily interaction with countries around the globe
  • Initiative, coupled with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Ability to manage several projects concurrently; excellent time management and organizational skills and results oriented
  • A strong team player and lateral thinker, comfortable working collaboratively, virtually and independently
  • Excellent communications and networking experience and skills in a wide range of situations and with people at all levels within the organization, including global leadership
Other Requirements:
  • This role will be based in the greater New York area. Candidates in London will also be considered.
  • Global travel will be required pending business needs.
Experience Requirements:
  • An in-house or agency background and experience of working with corporate or professional services organizations
  • Experience managing high-profile events and programs
  • Experience working with senior executives and managing individuals’ traditional and social media profiles
