In addition, this group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.

Financial Crimes Risk Management (FCRM) is responsible for oversight of the company’s financial crimes related risk: Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), anti-money laundering and terrorist financing, anti-bribery and corruption, the Office of Foreign Assets Control, other global sanctions programs, internal and external fraud, and the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act.The Financial Crimes Consultant 3 in External Financial Crimes Investigations is primarily responsible for investigating known or suspected fraudulent activity perpetrated against or through Wells Fargo by either a customer or non-customer. They may also conduct investigations related to medium to high risk financial crimes investigations that pose a moderate to high risk.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Gathering evidence, analyzing information, documenting findings, interviewing witnesses, testifying in court and preparing and drafting SAR’s.
  • Utilizing a wide-range of systems to obtain evidence which include but are not limited to; surveillance video footage, Excel spreadsheets, power point presentations, Microsoft Word documents and a variety of other in-house systems and open source sites such as; Facebook and Instagram.
  • Mitigating financial losses; filing reports with Law Enforcement, identifying control breakdowns contributing to financial losses; identifying fraud trends and activity related to organized crime groups.
  • Assists in managing change to prevent/mitigate risk; performs risk analysis and modeling as a precursor to building financial crimes strategies and models that directly impact Operating losses and indirectly impact Credit losses.
  • Creates and conducts education for financial crimes awareness to team members and Wells Fargo customers.
  • Develops and maintains working relationships with various law enforcement agencies acts as a liaison with law enforcement agencies; may represent organization in handling court appearances, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, etc.

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: fraud, Bank Secrecy Act, anti money laundering, investigations of financial crimes transactions or policy violations, risk management, or compliance; or a BS/BA degree or higher in applied sciences, mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, or criminal justice, with 2+ years of experience in the foregoing
  • 2+ years of fraud investigations experience

Other Desired Qualifications
  • Law enforcement or bank fraud investigation experience.
  • Previous experience writing Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs)
  • Experience working with the Financial Crimes Investigations team
