Engineering Manager - Renewables and Clean Energy

Description About the Position: Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Tolead and develop a multidiscipline group of engineering and design personnel collaborating on new renewable and clean energy technologieslike utility solar, wind, battery storage and fuel cells. Assessopportunities within and outside the LIPA Amended and Restated Power Supply Agreement(A&R PSA) and Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) to meet LOB strategic Plan. Develop energy projects on existing PPO generating sites andNational Grid owned properties. Develop “repowering” projects to support LIPA Electric ResourcePlan. Evaluateand promote energy projects in all regions of the United States. Assesspartnerships with National Grid and external organizations in support of newrenewable and clean energy projects. Evaluate engineering, construction and operational performanceof projects. ProvideDirector of Power Engineering recommendations for the development of newrenewable and clean energy projects and updates on the status of projects inprogress. Establisheffective relationships with National Grid and external partners to promote efficientproject proposals, effective contracts and successful new energy initiatives. Leadinternal and external resources in the evaluation, engineering and design of newenergy projects. Developcompetencies in the renewable and clean energy technologies and projectdevelopment. Developproject designs, proposals, contracts, technical bid evaluations, procurementand installation specifications. Supportenvironmental, legal and regulatory project drivers and impacts. Supportsafety through project planning and commercial terms. Assurecompliance with all required laws, regulations, National Grid policies andprocedures. Support project implementation and construction. Qualifications Knowledge & Experience Required: 15 years of power generation, energy storage and transmission experience. Demonstratedleadership capabilities with a minimum of 5 years of experience supervising,managing and developing others. Indepth knowledge of engineering, procurement and construction contracts onenergy projects. Energeti c and creative individual capable of recognizing andpromoting innovative ideas. Knowledgeof regulations, codes and standards in related areas. Knowledgein various engineering disciplines like mechanical, electrical, controls andcivil. Abilityto build business relationships, understand business priorities and inspireconfidence through effective management. Familiarwith project management; planning, scheduling, progress reporting, costcontainment and resource optimization. Strongdecision making skills to direct actions in a high-energy, fast movingenvironment. Familiar with project financing and modeling. Bachelor’sdegree in an engineering discipline from an accredited university. PElicense in the state of New York preferred. Master’sDegree preferred. Proficientin the use of computer programs such as Word, Excel, Access and Outlook. Excellentverbal, written, interpersonal and communication skills. Creative,innovative, adaptable and flexible. Analytical,critical thinking and problem solving skills. A valid New York State driver’s license. Establisheffective relations with PED managers, PPO directors, PPO support organizations,National Grid Legal, National Grid Environmental and external business partners. Collaborateand communicate effectively across the organization and with all partners. Developrelationships with internal and external resources to support projects. Work effectively with all corporate, business, regulatory,legal and government stakeholders.
