Warner Bros. Technology seeks a Director, Workplace Engineering for the Workplace Technologies & Architecture Department. The individual should have the leadership, technology skills and experience to lead the efforts to modernize existing platforms. The role is accountable for designing, building, budgeting, pricing, and enhancing end user technologies, including end user mobile and desktop operating systems (OS) and hardware, desktop applications and other standard enterprise peripherals and print solutions. Responsibilities also include, managing, people, budgets, external service providers and vendors, assisting with pricing strategy and managing customer relationships with divisional partners. The Director manages a team of Engineers to meet these objectives.
  • Manages the Workplace Engineering organization and team members responsible for day-to-day high level support and engineering activities for end user computing services, including, but not limited to, mobile and desktop Operating Systems (OS) and hardware, virtual and physical desktop environments, desktop applications, and other standard enterprise peripherals and print solutions.
  • Assists in performing high level problem management duties such as identifying recurring application and infrastructure incidents. This includes communicating identified problems to relevant stakeholders.
  • Manages the incident lifecycle for Workplace Technologies and facilitates communications during major incidents.
  • Establishes and maintains regular written and in-person communications with executives, business partners, and end users regarding pertinent activities.
  • Collaborates with other WBT teams to transition services entering into the production operating environment with proper operational support, documentation and training.
  • Identifies, assesses and communicates operational risks.
  • Reports budget period financial tracking and issues quotes for service when required.
  • Assists in managing department operational planning and projects, and organizes and negotiates the allocation of resources.
  • Analyzes existing operations and makes recommendations for the improvement and growth of the operating environment.
  • Reviews and analyzes effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develops strategies for improving or leveraging those systems.
  • Manages operations staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
  • Acts as a mentor and subject matter expert to engineering employees.
What do we require from you?
  • BA/BS/Masters degree in relevant preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Technical Certification a plus.
  • Minimum 7 to 10 years’ experience in a large IT environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience leading multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience creating business cases and managing budgets.
  • Experience in engineering applications, servers and storage.
  • Experience in analyzing systems and modifying existing operations to add value.
  • Experience in requirements engineering, solution architecture, design, development and deployment.
  • Experience in financial management and financial tracking.
  • Experience in technical leadership and thought leadership.
  • Experience in System Center Configuration Manager and complex SCCM constructs.
  • Experience in Operating System Deployment.
  • Experience in application packaging and distribution at enterprise scale.
  • Experience in Corporate Identity management and Identity services implementation.
  • Aptitude to make decisions in technology selection and implementation approach based on long-term strategic objectives, while taking into consideration short-term implications for ongoing or planned implementations.
  • Ability to apply technology in solving business technical problems.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with changing priorities, communicating changes in scope and schedule to all parties concerned.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and tactfully with all levels of personnel.
  • Must be able to pay close attention to complex detail and understand written and oral instructions.
  • Must be able to organize and schedule work effectively.
  • Must be able to work well under time constraints.
