About the position

UX Director

Prudential is seeking a talented, senior-level User Experience Designer to develop the next generation of our digital experience.

You will collaborate directly with senior management, marketing, product and design partners to create the vision, scope, and execute on the end-to-end UX experience.

This is a HIGHLY visible role that will balance great hands-on UX deliverables with strong client/partner management. It will include guiding clients through a design thinking approach – encouraging their participation while gathering the requirements needed to craft your final vision.

·        You OWN every aspect of your work and project. You ask the right questions, press for the answers - and can create alignment among the group with your vision

·        You’re comfortable with a blank canvas – and painting that canvas with your ideas and vision. Your work is fast and decisive.

·        You know how to pitch your vision in a compelling way. You intuitively organize your thought process and communicate effectively - especially when articulating design decisions.

·        You think in global terms – reusability, incremental improvements, the system, the big picture

·        You truly believe a better product begins with collaboration and iteration

·        Be passionate about technology, data, design, and most importantly our users

This person must be able to take direction well, be team oriented, as well as take initiative. Expert level grasp of applicable software is required, Sketch or other UX software, as well as a strong understanding of web technologies. Must have a very strong UX portfolio, reflecting senior-level UX design experience and production skills

Responsibilities

·        Research and understand the various complexities of our user needs as they relate to our digital experience.

·        Define UX needs for all projects based on available data, competitive analysis - and develop our user personas.

·        Partner with the Product & Marketing teams to define requirements, user stories, and provide functional, innovative solutions.

·        Partner directly with design team to produce an engaging digital experience that can be realistically translated by our development team

·        Create mockups, wireframes & visualizations as needed to communicate design ideas.

·        Communicate (via annotations & descriptions) interactions within wireframes for development.

·        Help create & maintain UX style guide, in coordination with the interactive/visual guides.

·        Test designs for usability issues ahead of development.

Minimum Professional and Technical Skills:

·        7+ years of experience as a UX designer, information designer, interaction designer, or similar role.

·        Experience developing Responsive and Mobile-First approaches for large scale websites

·        Excellent communication skills (both in conversation and in writing).

·        Proven experience leading user-centered design practices across various properties

·        A strong online portfolio which demonstrates both approaches and solutions to the various phases of user-centered design, as well as a strong visual style.

·        Significant experience with data visualization

·        Strong project and people management skills

·        Ability to work under deadlines and within a dynamic environment

·        Experience in Financial Services and/or agency experience with large clients is a plus

Minimum B.A. or B.S. degree in Design or related discipline
