What part will you play? 
  • The Director will be responsible for managing a team of 3 people who provide expertise on media and marketplace trends, and develop projections of supply and demand, informing Turner strategy
  • Provide an ongoing perspective on the marketplace, including linear, digital and social media 1) Track patterns of population growth, economic indicators and changes in technology to support forecast 2) Select best available combination of data sets to model marketplace to the highest level of accuracy 3) Develop proprietary market structure and models to allow tracking and forecasting of linear and digital supply and demand 4) Partner with MSS to develop data management plan 5) Surface category and advertiser opportunities based on trends and share analyses 6) Closely monitor changes in measurement that could impact monetization
 
What will you be doing?  
  • Proactively researches and tracks marketplace trends and provides insights on future revenue opportunities
  • Relates team's work to core business opportunities and challenges and advises clients on what actions to take due to the findings and/or learnings
  • Works proactively with MSS to develop central data repository for marketplace information to allow automation of reporting
  • Creates data visualizations to simplify and focus information
  • Works with team to prepare reports and presentations in order to highlight key insights
  • Dynamically leads meetings and initiatives with senior level clients both internal and external
  • Proactively identifies potential ad sales leads and provides insights about specific strategies to win business
  • Proactively develops new ideas to solve business problems for internal and external clients
  • Look outward for new ideas and industry trends
  • Builds and enhances key relationships with internal contacts and external relationships with research firms and providers of data
  • Interacts with direct reports and peers in management, customers, vendors to interpret information, maintain and improve cross-functional processes and programs
  • Manages staff to include hiring and on-going training and development, providing guidance, coaching and feedback, performance management and day to day oversight of projects including directing, assigning and prioritizing work Interacts with senior management to keep abreast of function or unit objectives
  • Reports directly to VP level
 
What do we require from you?

  • 10+ years of experience, including planning, strategy, business development and insights expertise
  • Bachelor's degree desired; or equivalent experience
  • Strong knowledge of media industry
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Linear, digital and direct-to-consumer research experience and relevant software applications that extract data from primary sources
  • Understands the best practices and technical requirements for digital, linear and cross platform measurement
  • Well-versed in latest trends, platforms and technologies
  • Competence with Tableau, Microsoft Excel (VBA, Macros, Pivot Tables, etc.), Lake 5, SMI, Nielsen Suite (NPower, NCS, NBI, Brand Effect, AdViews, etc.) Pathmatics, comScore, StarTrack, MRI, Simmons, Kantar, Galaxy Explorer, Arianna
