Director, Digital Planning & Ad Operations

AdWorks require a new position to manage a growing Digital Operations team to support AT&T AdWorks’ existing digital products as well as help launch the next phase of Digital Advertising assets. We require an individual with industry expertise to help further grow and lead this team in order to maximize pricing, revenue, and inventory utilization.

This individual will be in a highly impactful role that is responsible for maximizing revenue & inventory utilization across all AT&T AdWorks Digital revenue streams.

This key role will also be responsible for supervising ad operations as well as provide expertise and guidance on campaign implementation, management, optimization, and reporting. He/she will provide key insights on best practices in order to refine our digital advertising operations.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of pricing, planning, and revenue optimization for AT&T AdWorks digital products
  • Oversee all of ad operations and trafficking key functions – campaign QC, implementation, trafficking, delivery, troubleshooting, reporting, inventory optimization, and billing integration

  • Scale team and capabilities, leveraging internal and external resources, including establishment of SLAs for issue resolution

  • Act as a point of escalation for troubleshooting campaigns and provide technical support to external and internal clients to resolve any issues and develop a plan for the prevention of the same issues

  • Ensure the Ad Ops team maintains low error rates, traffics efficiently, and thinks ahead about potential roadblocks to business goals

  • Ensure the Ad Ops/traffickers on the team partner with Ad Sales and Account Management teams to launch video campaigns on time, monitor campaign performance, and communicate any performance issues to clients in a timely manner.

  • Manage the operationalization of new ad products, in partnerships with Product, Operations, and Engineering teams; assist in QC, documentation, and rollout of these capabilities

  • Manage dedicated Inventory & Yield Management resources that will focus on campaign prioritization and optimization strategy and who will also collaborate with teams responsible for onboarding new inventory partners and launching new ad units

  • Work with internal resources to provide/develop best-in-class reporting and optimize delivery against our inventory partners

  • Communicate technical issues (both verbal and written) in a manner that is easy for a non-technical audience to understand

  • Frequently evaluate the suite of tools and services used by Ad Ops, and provide insights and recommendations to ensure the team’s evolving needs are met

  • Bring structure and process to a growing team in a fast-paced environment

  • Stay abreast of industry trends in online advertising and ad operations.

  • Champion growth and development of direct reports

  • Liaison with Sales team to help spearhead new initiatives to drive revenue growth


Training and Special Skills

  • 8+ years of experience in pricing, Ad Operations, yield management or sales analytics for Ad Agency, Publisher, or Ad Tech Vendor
  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, science, business, finance or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with digital ad serving systems, such as DFP and FreeWheel.
  • Experience with front-end sales systems, such as Salesforce, Operative.One etc.
  • Experience with publisher tools, such as Yieldex, is a plus.
  • Experience with Digital Data Aggregators, such as Staq or Ad-Juster tools, is a plus.
  • Experience with Business Intelligence tools such as Microstrategy, Domo, Datorama or Looker is a plus.
  • Ability to operate a complex, cutting-edge ad platform
  • Experience managing smart, high performing teams
  • Ability to scale a team to an efficient, process-oriented group
  • Ad Exchange or Programmatic advertising experience a plus.
  • Strong analytical, communication and organizational skills required.
  • Must be able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast paced environment.
  • Must have attention to detail and strong ability to multi-task
  • Robust analytical abilities and quantitative skills
  • Must possess a passion to drive the business forward
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (Pivot tables, vLookups, etc.)
  • MVPD experience a plus
