Director Communications & Content

Overall Purpose: This position is responsible for directing the development of product marketing strategy and requirements for specific product portfolios or product lines through 8 or more directors who manage product marketing professionals. Key Roles and Responsibilities: The AVP of Product Management oversees the full life-cycle management of multiple AT&T portfolios and product lines in order to optimize market plan performance, revenue growth and profitability objectives. Products represent existing, new, and emerging products as well as technologies or services. The position is responsible for an AT&T product portfolio and the product lines profitability managed by subordinate director teams. Reviews and approves the development of short and long term marketing plans. Approves product lines within the portfolio based on analysis provided regarding the market, including competitive analysis and definition of product functionality. Oversees marketing forecasting activities. Reviews the results of director teams market research, monitoring of competitive activity and market share to validate customer needs. Reviews and approves pricing strategies. Engages leaders by positioning and negotiating product marketing needs and strategy with engineering, manufacturing, and sales to develop new products or enhance existing products or product lines. Coaches subordinate managers in effective negotiation of critical deliverables needed to perform the assigned product management. The AVP approves new products and product features. The position also approves recommended advertising and promotional programs and pricing strategies. Responsible for portfolio and product family profitability. Position determines the best practices and policies that should be used for AT&T product management of portfolio. Recommends company marketing strategy to leadership based on results of product portfolio performance. Evaluates the performance, career planning and development for the team. Influences decisions regarding the hiring, firing, disciplinary action, promotional activity, and pay decisions for subordinates. Oversees compensation programs which are designed to attract, retain and motivate employees. This position develops the overall strategy and product portfolio approach for categories that are critical components to the overall success of the company. Requires advanced knowledge of company product lines and potential applications. Technical understanding of product and customer requirements. Fully experienced in management techniques and controls, marketing and contract administration. Product lines are complex, unique and critical. Education: Bachelors or Advanced degree preferred. Experience: Typically requires 12 or more years of experience and at least two years of management responsibility. Supervisory: Yes.
