Director Commercial Data Management

Your tasks and responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role, Director Commercial Data Management, are to:


  • Execute Data management, Reporting and Governance;
  • Be accountable for design and management of local data management strategy and processes;
  • Design and implement efficient and standardized data management process applied across Bayer pharma US commercial organization;
  • Be responsible for data quality and harmonization; ensure reporting accuracy and escalate data related risks and issues to business owners, IT and external vendors as necessary;
  • Ensure that there are standard business rules and market definitions across Bayer pharma commercial data sources;
  • Identify data and business analyses that will drive impact and growth within and across the franchises;
  • Provide guidance and recommendations on data sourcing and analytics;
  • Work with IT and analytics teams to ensure data is being leveraged optimally;
  • Guide IT in technology decisions by providing commercial business requirements;
  • Manage BI resources and tools to support Franchise needs;
  • Share best practices within and across groups;
  • Manage external partners and supplier relationships as necessary (e.g. Veeva, IQVIA, etc.); Provide relevant business level insights proactively;
  • Chair local data governance council discussion;
  • Partner with key stakeholders;
  • Curate relationship and partner with Business Insights, DSA, IT, Bus and Market Access to ensure completion of key deliverables;
  • Drive Call Plan creation through cross-brand partnering;
  • Brief business stakeholders on CRM analytics learnings and best practices;

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree, with major in Data Science, Economics,Healthcare, Finance, Public Policy, or related; ideally combined with relevant post-graduate degree (Master’s/Ph.D.);
  • Twelve years of experience and knowledge of U.S. specialty pharma commercial data, across multiple segments and brands pertaining to Bayer’s business, including but not limited to Iqvia, SourceRx, laptop/ iPad Veeva detailing, specialty pharmacy data, formulary data;
  • Data driven, highly organized and motivated individual who has the ability to lead others to understand and support commercial data strategy, policies and procedures;
  • Strong display of strategic thinking and planning experience, as expressed through leadership in respective projects and presentations;
  • Deep knowledge of Commercial Datasets relevant to Pharma;
  • Client focus and responsiveness;
  • Record of professional success, demonstrated through above-average performance reviews, promotions, and relevant "extracurricular" activities/ engagements;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as demonstrable in oral management presentations, succinct PowerPoint stories and layout, as well as structured syntheses and recommendations;
  • Effective project management skills, as demonstrated by on-time, on budget project delivery;
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including team leadership, thought leadership, and leadership awareness;


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Master’s and/or Doctorate degree;
  • Digital/CRM database expertise.
