Director Business Development and Licensing Consumer Health

The primary responsibilities of this role, Director Business Development and Licensing Consumer Health, are to: 


  • Develop, define and document Partnering Strategy and Search Priorities together with Regional and Global Category leadership, lead activities to achieve the Consumer Division’s strategic objectives;
  • Search, evaluate, negotiate and manage in-and out-licensing partnerships and other strategic agreements;
  • Act as the prime point of contact and "external face" of Bayer to the external companies and Partner(s);
  • Act as "first filter" of incoming opportunities based on deep understanding of business needs;
  • Prepare and coordinate preliminary assessments of external opportunities together with relevant functions;
  • Participate in and/or lead significant projects and initiatives, managing across disciplines, functions, or other organizational boundaries;
  • Manage due diligence internal cross-functional activities for assigned projects;
  • Constantly analyze competitive OTC landscape across broad or multiple therapeutic areas;
  • Collaborate and drive decision-making regarding specific business development opportunities with internal stakeholders and external partners;
  • Negotiate full contractual agreement with partner together with Legal and present project for Senior Management approval, managing key HQ stakeholders in order to gain support for the project;
  • Lead alliance management activities of global portfolio of in/out-licensing and other collaborative relationships for the organization, drive decision-making on how to deal with and potential conflicts and resolution of contractual issues (e.g. assignment, termination, re-negotiation);
  • Support M&A activities with focus on divestitures, coordinate information requests and plan on-site diligence visits;
  • Support the operational management of due diligence, including internal collection of all relevant data and filling of the external data room.

Required Qualifications:

  • University Degree in Natural Sciences and/or Business Administration (B.A./B.S.) with at least 15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry;
  • An in depth understanding of the Consumer Health and FMCG market and industry;
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience can supersede requirements.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree (i.e. M.B.,D.V.M.).
