The primary responsibilities of this role, Deputy Director CBI Market Research, are to: 

 

  • Secondary Market Research (10% – 25%):
  • Takes care that the definitions of his / her markets are up to date in the internal databases of Global Market Research (GMR) and implements changes within the yearly review process in close collaboration with GMR Data Management;
  • Is aware of all secondary data sources relevant for oncology and ensures the appropriate usage for analyses;
  • Ensures that all databases or other secondary sources unique for oncology are budgeted appropriately in GMR or the Strategic Business Entity during the year and within the timelines of the planning period;
  • Ensures that Standard Reports are created according to the overall guidelines for reporting of GMR supervised by GMR Market Analyses & Data Management;
  • Discusses of the need for new oncology data sources with Strategic Marketing or other functions in need for it in close collaboration with GMR Market Analyses & Data Management;
  • Is responsible for the yearly review process of the Corporate Market Structure for Oncology and ensures that the input of all parties to be involved is gathered and provided in time to GMR Market Analyses & Data Management;
  • Ensures that all analyses done in the group are based on the Corporate Market Structure;
  • Identification and evaluation of information needs and sources (5 – 10%);
  • Continuously track the reporting needs in the Oncology area in discussion with the internal business partners;
  • Balances the need for standard reports with the capacities needed and ensures that only standard reports are established which save time compared to ad hoc analyses;
  • Ensure that standard reports are done according to the overall guidelines for reporting of GMR supervised by GMR Market Analyze & Data Management;
  • Anticipate and identifies market research information needs, both collaboratively with internal business partners and proactively based on knowledge of markets and products;
  • Discuss with the marketing functions (GBTs, GLTs, RMOs) the market research projects for the next 3 years during the budgeting period and develops the market research plan incl. budget estimations and capacity planning;
  • The incumbent ensures that only projects are initiated or data is acquired that support relevant business decisions;
  • Primary Market Research (10 – 40%):
  • Is responsible for the design and conduction of all international primary research for Oncology in response to specific business decisions to be made by the internal business partners;
  • Ensure that all studies are done state-of-the-art;
  • Analyze and RecommendationS (10-20%);
  • Pro-actively provide market and customer insights to support GBTs, GLTs, RMOs, and Regions and other central functions and teams with recommendations based on desk research and primary market research studies;
  • Support Marketing Excellence projects with a focus on scope of the market, buying process, segmentation and customer portraits;
  • This support includes the statistical analyses of already available as well as newly generated data;
  • Ensure that the Brand Performance Reviews are harmonized with the other groups and that clear key findings and recommendations are delivered;
  • Is responsible for the BPRs being done from a neutral and objective perspective;
  • Strategic Forecasting (10 – 25%):
  • Is responsible for developing state-of-the-art forecasting models for the strategic planning process;
  • Ensure compliance with the forecasting process methodology and tool of GMR and ensures the timely availability of all forecast models as well as the cooperation with the regional market research groups;
  • Train colleagues and other functions involved in the forecasting process on forecasting methodology, forecasting tool and reporting system;
  • Ensure that the forecasting model development including all assumptions and model modifications is documented;
  • Continuously evaluates possible improvement of the process and the tool;
  • Project Teams (5 - 50%):
  • Support the development of GMR as a function as a project lead or member in internal projects;
  • Serves as a project member within projects requiring in depth market research input and knowledge.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Requires an MBA or other advanced degree in fields such as Economics, Business Administration. Statistics, Psychology, Life Sciences, Public Health or equivalent experience;
  • Minimum of eight years market research experience, at least six years out of it in the pharmaceutical industry;
  • International experience having worked abroad at least for one year would be a plus;
  • Requires leadership skills on a high level especially with regard to a very strong will to inspire and convince internal business partners;
  • The incumbent must have advanced problem-solving and analytical skills, innovative approaches to issues and sound judgment;
  • Excellent communication, planning and organizational skills are necessary, along with the ability to influence managers at all levels within Bayer and market research suppliers / consultants;
  • The incumbent must have the ability to lead and coordinate projects through international and interdisciplinary groups and must be able to clearly and concisely communicate, both verbally and in writing;
  • Fluent English (written and spoken) is required, second and third language would be a plus;
  • Due to the international relationships intercultural sensitivity is a must;
  • Good negotiation skills are necessary with regard to external as well as internal business partners;
  • Requires thorough knowledge of audits, questionnaire design (to elicit qualitative and quantitative feedback without introducing bias), and data analysis including statistical know-how:
  • Sample Drawing Methodology;
  • Descriptive Statistics;
  • Multivariate Analyses: Regression Analyses, Factor Analyses, Cluster Analyses etc. ;
  • Conjoint Analyses: CBC, ACA, HB etc.;
  • Forecasting Methodologies;
  • Software knowledge on a sophisticated level is required, especially:
  • Office Programs, especially in Excel;
  • Conjoint Software;
  • Forecasting Software;
  • Statistical Programs like SPSS;
  • In-depth know-how on the various data analyses exploration tools The incumbent must have a sound knowledge of BSP’s marketed and pipeline products, therapeutic markets, pricing, contracting guidelines;
  • and other relevant healthcare policies. The incumbent must be able to work with a high degree of independence, plan, organize and implement multiple projects within time and budget constraints.
